I've been looking for another Jacksons after my previous boy of 7 years died last month.
I know they're usually more available in the fall months but I' scratching my head as to why nobody from Flchams to breeders on Kingsnake seem not to have any....
Since Chameleons are visual based animals, and communicate via visual cues, color, etc, is it possible that they may also learn to recognize a person who frequently feeds them, etc by that persons visual attributes, i.e color of their skin, height, etc...and know that that person is not a...
I live in MD, and over the past few weeks there has been an emergence of Cicacdas all over the state. There's especially a large number of them in my backyard and the garden birds have been gorging on them. I don't typically like to feeding wild caught insects to my Jacksons, but i couldn't...
So i purchased this dry Iguana food as a dry food source for my snails ( i've read they really like it), and wanted to know if anyone else had ever tried to gut load their other feeders with it.
I usually feed my snails dark green leafy vegetables along with carrots, etc but i feed my crix and...
Has anyone kept BB spikes in the fridge for several months, and successfully hatched them into flies after such time?
I purchase some spikes from mantisplace back in October, hatched some but totally forgot about the rest which i had store in the fridge. Anyhow i took some out (about 20) and...
Was just thinking about the variety of items my 1 and a half year old Jacksons 'Kamino' has eaten in his lifetime...
BB Flies
Dubia Roaches
Crickets
Butter worms
Silk worms
Snails
Preying Mantis
Stink Bug
Wax worms
Wax moth
Superworms
I think my Jacksons 'Kamino' might be exhibiting early signs of a respiratory infection. I know a reptile vet in Gaithersburg, but the last time I took my cham there, he died, so I wanted to know if there was a better, more experience Cham vet in Maryland….. I live in Silver Spring….
Thanks...
What is the one food your chameleon absolutely loves?
Mine loves Super worms.
He can be full on other foods, but if i throw in a super worm…he'll eat it regardless. I have make sure i gut load them well.
Is anyone else having an issue with BB flies, as of late?
I usually buy BB from (not going to name place), however the last few orders i've gotten from said place, the flies take a long time to hatch almost 10 days and then when they hatch they die……
I've ordered from this place...
So i went into Petsmart today, just to browse. While i was there i decided to get my cham some wax worms. I went over to the the fridge, but they were all out. As i was about to leave, i walked past the section where they keep the super worms, and noticed they had one wax worm container. I...
Along with keeping Chameleons, i also keep turtles; have so for 20+ years.
In all that time, i have rarely exposed my turtles to sunlight or provided UV lighting in the tanks; ever. Thus, all their D3 requirements are obtained solely through their diet. I feed my turtles a variety of food...
Just over 2 months ago i lost my 5 month old Jackson, Icarus. He escaped from a cage i had for him outside, set up solely for the purpose of getting him some natural sunlight.
I purchased another Jackson about a month later; Romulus; had him outside today, and right before my eyes a...
I lost my Jackson's today!:( I had him outside in my yard, in a home made enclosure i built specifically for him to get natural sunlight. Turns out one side of the screen wasn't secured firmly enough and he found it…got out..and now he's gone.
I have a HUGE backward and have search high and...
Now that the weather is starting to get nice i've been placing my Jackson cham outside in the out door enclosure i built for him. It's nothing fancy; about the size of a 29 gallon tall aquarium with all sides screen.
I've been taking him out there for a few hours, a few times a week.
How...
I'm very curious to know if aspiration caused when liquid (through syringe feeding) getting into the breathing tract of a cham happens in a matter of minutes, as it would with humans, or takes several hours to result in death?
I ask, because i'm syringe feeding my Jackson's, Max, and want to...
For all my fellow Jackson's chameleon lovers and owners..how, after shedding, do you get that extra dead skin off your baby's head in that area right between the horns!
I love Jackson's to death, but having him shed, clear off all the dead skin via rubbing against branches himself, only to...
I'm thinking about returning to crickets after having feeding Dubia's to my 15 month old Jackson for the past two months. He was raised primarily on crickets, and other feeders like wax worms, hornworms, etc and never took Dubias until two months ago; i was happy that he had finally tasted and...
