We're heading to Maui later this week and love looking for Chameleons.
I know on Oahu they're pretty easy to find at Manoa Falls arboretum. Are there similar pockets for finding them on Maui?
I could have spent all day here searching. As it was I spotted this sweet little female within a couple minutes and she accompanied us for about an hour while we looked for her cohorts. Alas, no luck. Still the family was excited to have her along.
He is such a goofy lizard. You may remember he's had some trouble with his right eye. With some suggestions, I decided I'd put him on a shower regimen. Maybe every 4 days or so for the past few weeks. I am definitely seeing some improvement- the eye is closed much less frequently now. Previously...
My family wants to buy me a chameleon for my birthday this month. It's supposed to be a surprise but my wife wants me to sort it out to make sure things don't go sideways with their plans.
I'm thinking a pair of quads would be nice, as I haven't had them in many many years. I'm looking to spend...
So we went to the Exotic Show this weekend and once I realized it was animals and not women, I found a cute new member of the family. We set him up right next to Michi's cage and it was interesting that Michi seemed curious enough to come down and eyeball him.
Although it's not very warm, at 55 degrees F the full sun should be OK for awhile. This is probably Michi's first ever exposure to direct sunlight. He seems skeptical but I think he's enjoying himself. Clouds are rolling in now so I may have to bring him in but half an hour of this is great!
His left eye, the lid is puffy around the actual eyeball and he's been closing the eye a lot. I think I'm seeing a bit of decreased activity too. Any remedies recommended before the vet?
We set up his larger enclosure today. Also attached is a photo of him eating a great big dubia. He likes the winged ones, but won't touch the others unfortunately. So it's back to crickets I guess.
Originally I had these three little guys housed in the giant green iguana cage, but honestly we almost never saw them! I didn't know for sure if they were all alive after 6 months of being in there. Anyway, I decided I'd set up a terrarium in my youngest son's room and although he would have...
Back when I was a chameleon breeder I built all my own cages. None of them were especially interesting but they were practical. Fast forward to my 8 year old son getting his first green iguana a couple years ago... I knew I'd have to build it an enormous habitat at some point. So last summer I...
Last fall when I was building a huge enclosure for my son's iguana, I stumbled across these ultrasonic elements. They're made for putting into a pond or fountain for decorative mist, but with a bit of tweaking work really well for terrarium humidification. Here's a short video of one in current...
Wow, it's happened again. I haven't owned a chameleon since my wife and I stopped breeding back in about 2001 or so. But we've discussed it for years and eventually planned to keep panthers again, especially now that we have kids and they're interested in the little buggers.
So today while...
I found this on Youtube yesterday:

A large male veiled has apparently eaten another veiled that must have been pretty large, given the length of its tail and legs/feet which haven't been swallowed.
Now, I've always assumed that they would...
Curt was very nice and helpful. I've been out of the hobby for 10 years now, and it's nice to see how panther chameleon breeding has progressed! He is obviously a very responsible breeder. I got to see his logs and his whole set up. Some very nice breeding stock and well-cared for babies, too...
Back when I was breeding chameleons (rather small time, at that) the only real options for breeding feeders was crickets. I see some are now breeding various roaches and even grasshoppers/locusts, along with an assortment of worms/moths.
My question: is there a reasonably cost effective and...
Hi all,
I haven't owned a chameleon in over 10 years! But, back in the late 90's and early 2000's I had a fair bit of success breeding panthers and veileds. I have also worked with carpet and quadricornis chameleons, but not long enough to really feel I understood them.
In any case, I've...
