    Christmas Pics

I haven't had the creative bug this year to take any Christmas pictures, but thought I'd share some older ones from previous holiday seasons.

    Panther Eats Adult Chinese Mantis

Been neglecting getting Dexter out for photoshoots. Other than taking one picture of him eating a mantis a couple of months ago, today was his only other time on the set all year. He's due for a shed and wanted to wait until after to take his picture, but this was my last mantis and didn't want...

    Picnic On My Dog's Head

This little girl loves hornworms more than I've ever seen any animal love any one type of food more than anything else. I also obviously have a well trained dog to do this without any kind of risk ever entering my mind. He's done this kind of thing enough that he knows after remaining completely...

    St Francis feeds my chameleon

Have a ton of hornworms that currently fit perfectly in his hand, so had him feed my carpet this morning.

    Carpet Tackles Hornworm

Kind of hard to tell, but same chameleon and same worm. She changes colors so fast. Shot this afternoon.

    Mantis Nymph Gets Carpet Burn

Sold my Bradypodion and got a pair of carpets last week. Took the girl out for a photoshoot today. I've had 4 mantis ooths hatch in the last few days, so plenty of trial and error opportunities. Good thing. Wow...10 times harder than getting the tongue shot from a panther.

    Barbie and her Bradypodion

I missed the long tongue to the hand, but it doesn't matter much on this one. Total coincidence I had a piece of paper that matched her dress for the background. I was searching for my light blue background and came across this instead.

    Bradypodion Eating Hornworms

It's funny how this guy seems to always have nice strong patterns when he's in his cage, but looks plainer when I get him out. You would think it would be the opposite. I took the first pic in this set from yesterday right off the bat because he still had good patterns, but they still weren't...

    Baby Bradypodion thamnobates

Just a few shots of my little cham. The first two were taken yesterday while trying to get a shot of him eating some hornworms that just hatched. He ate several from that position. Today the worms were a little bigger and he ate several more. Not too happy with either of the tongue shots, but...

Baby Thamnobates Climbing On and Riding The Worm

I got this guy 10 days ago. The hornworm is only 2 1/2 inches long, so it has some growing to do too.

    Santa Hands Out Chameleon Candy

I didn't plan on shooting a Christmas pic this year, but since I already had the hat made and the candy cane from last year, and when the Santa idea came to me yesterday, I went to Hallmark and bought me a Santa. It took me a couple of hours to get everything setup and Dexter is such a great...

I bet my cham eats better than yours

Not sure how all of the weight of worm 3 and down is held onto worm 2, probably one foot from each hooked together. Anyway, I think my cham needs to learn some shopping etiquette.

    Panther vs Hummingbird

I have wondered for awhile if a panther would eat a hummingbird. I have seen a pic of a veiled eating one. Not that I have a ridiculous amount of experience, but Dexter is the biggest and most studliest of any panther I have seen, and since he hadn't eaten in a few days, I was surprised that he...

    Dexter's Tongue Catches Fire!!

First time attempting a backlit tongue. Looks like he might have missed the mark in the first pic, but the second consecutive pic proves otherwise.

    Phineas Loses Basket Of Worms

He ended up with 3 of them, so that was a good meal. Ol' Phineas will have to go back and get him some more.

    Roses

I have a bunch of hornworms and am scrambling for ideas for photos while they are the right size. I shot one 2 days ago and the other yesterday. Now I am stuck and can't think of something new and different. It was basically the same setup in both pictures. I never touched the camera or the...

    Riding A Bike

I went to Hobby Lobby this morning, looking for some inspiration for another tongue shot, since I am down to just 3-4 hornworms. I came home with a bike. I was hoping he'd have a toe on a pedal, but that didn't happen.

    Dexter Tackles 3.5 Inch Hornworm

The full size hormworms always seem too big, but when hand feeding a couple inches away, I've never had a problem. I have a bunch of big ones sitting in the wine cooler, so my chams have good eats for another week or so.

    Cham Steals Gator's Lunch

Dexter has had quite the appetite lately.

Taking the worm by the horns

Haven't gotten this guy out much lately. Up until a few months ago he was very orange, then he was white when fired. Now, after shedding last week, he has gotten some of his color back and is more green than he ever has been before. Been a few months since I did a tongue shoot with him, so was a...
