Snapped a few photos of Ziggy this week, how's he look?
He's about 1 year old now, maybe a little older since I wasn't sure on his exact age when I got him.
My only concern is his casque seems a bit small for his size? What do you guys think?
Also, besides waking him up at night, any...
I have had Ziggy since May 2011, he was 2 months old when I purchased him, which would make him about a year old. His sire was a "Blue" veiled from FLChams, and I figured he Ziggy would get some blues as well, but I understand there are no guarantees.
Most of the time he is a medium green, as...
Can anyone recommend a good stain to use that is low voc and safe for a chameleons enclosure?
I am building a new enclosure this week, upgrading him to a 32x32x48" enclosure for more space and better drainage than my previous enclosure.
I don't plan on moving him into it for a few weeks...
I am moving my 8 month old veiled chameleon to a larger enclosure, I am having drainage and other non-serious issues with his current enclosure I am using, so I am wanting to move him into a larger and better designed enclosure next month.
I am doing some planning and working on the design, I...
About 3 weeks ago my chameleon had a partial shed, his face/casque only. I replaced his UVB this week sine it was going on the 6 month mark, and now today the rest of his body is shedding, but not his face/casque.
Do I need to be worried about partial sheds, is it common? This is the first...
For the last week or so my veiled has developed some white around his nose, it's not the little specks that I have seen with over-supplementation it looks more like he stuck his nose in powdered sugar.
I read on here that using wet q-tips to wipe it off, but I tried and he didn't let me get...
So it's gotten about 20 degrees colder over the last week here in Phoenix. I keep my bedroom window open because I love the cold air at night, and it's significantly cooled down my apartment to about 70 degrees now.
Because of the drop in temp in my apartment, my chameleons 75 watt...
I built a custom enclosure out of a piece of furniture in my house, it's a 7' tall wooden entertainment enclosure that was used to hold electronics, etc. I spent weeks sealing the enclosure, making sure it was water tight and everything
Today I noticed some of the MDF board it's made out of...
I have had my chameleon Ziggy since May. Over the last few weeks he has been acting really strange. First, I will fill out the "how to ask for help" section:
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Male Veiled Chameleon - ~7 months old
Handling - Tried, and failed. He won't come near my hands...
My veiled has been showing some unusual behavior the last month, when I go to mist he starts hissing at me and gets dark, but if I start to spray him directly with water he turns bright green/blue.
Up until a month ago he HATED to have any water touch him, now it's the oppossite. Do you...
So I just started working at a place here in Arizona that builds/sells cat condos, if anyone here needs one let me know I can get cheap cash/carry prices, and maybe give out some coupons for those who want to order online.
We make all of them in house, high quality, no glues, no toxins, and...
I posted a while back about my chemelon being underweight, since then I have started feeding him more and he has gained a ton of weight! Check out this picture I took today, he's dark cause he hates the camera lol. This is about 1-2 days before a shed, if you can't tell from his skin.
How does...
I used to hate cats, until my wife convinced me we should get a kitten since our apartments don't allow dogs, only cats (weird, right?)
Anyways, while I still think dogs are better, I am defiantly not a cat hater anymore. I trained both my cats to play fetch and act like dogs, so I think I got...
I have been using Monstera Deliciosa in my enclosure for a few months now, and I just came across a post on here saying it's toxic, except for the fruit? (mine doesn't grow fruit)
I read on the FLChams 'Safe Plant List' that the Monstera deliciosa is safe for chameleons, so I am a bit confused...
I have had my chameleon Ziggy since May, and he was about 2 months old when I got him. I did not try and handle him until last month, I posted on here asking for advice, and got some really good responses and I have tried everything but I am thinking I might have waited too long to attempt...
So my cham seems to be too heavy for the branches on the schleffera plant now, I have tons of vines going every direction in his enclosure but he seems to prefer climbing around on the branches.
When he get's on a branch, it droops down and I am worried it will just snap off and he'll fall...
So my wife was browsing the forum today and came across pictures of pygmy chameleons and fell in love, I think it's due to their size and "cuteness" factor, but I gave in and told her we can get some, not letting her know I secretly want them myself. :D
I have two empty tanks from my days as...
Do they work in replacement to fruits/veggies or are they just a supplement?
I am trying to find better gutloading options, right now I am just using kale, carrots, oranges, and flukers orange cubes. Would be nice to just use a single gutload daily, but then who said keeping chameleons is easy...
