Does anyone have a cristatus they'd be willing to loan to National Geographic for one day of filming during the second week of December in Chicago? Havent noticed any on here in a while.... If interested send me a pm and I'll forward you the associate producer's contact info.
Can't make much worse of a title, huh? Well, I've debated sharing this girl for a while but I think the story is very encouraging and worthy of documentation because it can really show how strong and resilient a chameleon that has had all of its needs met can be.
First and foremost, what...
Soooo, here's a new one: as the title says, I hand-fed a small but adult stage female dubia to a large chameleon last night. This girl is a chewer and would normally work on something that size for a while before swallowing it but this time, as she was turning it in her mouth, it seemed to run...
Amazon keeps sending me reminders this is coming out soon so wanted to let everyone here know. Now that I've watched the Attenborough series too many times I'm pretty excited about a new film and the 3D should be pretty cool...
Got a bunch of hand-picked stuff fresh off the plane yesterday that I've been having fun with today. Between waterings and feeding I managed to get a few pics. :)
Great male carpet
Biggest female Oustalet's I've seen in a while
Love these guys
Brookesia superciliaris
Another one of these? :o I'm super excited! Amongst a shipment of chameleons I'm getting tomorrow there's something I've never worked with before that's going to get a nice spot in the living room. Any ideas before I post pics tomorrow?
Took some cute pics tonight. These are the first regular carpets I've tried to hatch. I used the diapause method and had 10 of 11 eggs hatch in 6.75 months right down to the week I had predicted. Pretty cool how easy it was! The carpets are about 2 weeks old now and I can already tell...
I hatched my first panthers (nosy Be) in 1993. For 20 years I have kept, bred, and keenly studied locale variations in the species. When I first started, 10,000 panthers were being imported to the US each year compared to 500 or less now. In that time I have seen too many mislabeled or...
Anybody still around from when I got Sid? He was the start of me getting back into Ambanjas a few years ago. He bred a bunch of times the first couple of years but hasn't strung together more than three head bobs in a row for quite a while now. He's calmed down a lot as he's aged so at least...
Well, sorta. Even though the eggs went the distance I really thought they were infertile due to their odd elongate shape. Instead of them being full of that yellow goop stuff this is the first time I've hatched this species. :)
"Little help here?"
Did anyone notice CITES Animals Committee is reviewing a proposal from Madagascar to renew legal trade in seven species of chameleons as well as more species of Phelsuma? The proposal was to have been decided upon this last summer but documents from the Madagascar M.A. were late and apparently...
The first is one I'm very excited about because it looks like she's gravid. The second seems to be my favorite photographic subject now.
Happy? Yeaaaaah.
