i'm just going to throw this out there but it doesn't look like he's full grown. do chams get uncoordinated and clumsy while they are growing? if so he could be doing the equivalent of tripping over his own feet.
it sounds to me like you are describing her gravid colors, mostly black with blue and yellow spots. now she is no longer gravid so she has her normal colors. personally i like the green color the female veileds have.
this is economics 101. panthers cost more because people are willing to pay it. if the buying public said i'm not going to pay more than 200 for a chameleon then there would be no such thing as a panther that goes for 500 or a parson's that goes for thousands. price is dictated by us, the buyer...
feed them whole. taking off the wings just makes it more of a pain in the butt. even my female veileds seem to like the males a little more. they are little pigs though.
babies are great! my wife just had our first and it's a big change but she swears it's the best thing that ever happened to her. we had to scale back too but now we're happy as ever. congrats
is anyone going to the expo this weekend. i know there are alot of mixed reviews about it but according to the website there are a few vendors that do chameleons.
you are right in that there are two types of veiled chameleons. some literature actually says that there are two subspecies with the casque being the identifying trait. as far as i know the only way to tell what type would be to look at the parents. good luck
hi, i'm looking to see who in the denver area has chameleons. if so what do you have? any breeding plans? i have 1.2 veiled, 1.1 sambava panther, 1.0 ambilobe panther, 1.1 jackson's, 1.0 fischer's.
if you're thinking montaine species, i'd say jackson's would be a good fit. they're tough and definately are a mountain species. really it depends on what you can find and what you like. i've been looking at a pair of quads myself.
my wife found that pic too and we came to the conclusion that it is a female veiled that has been photoshopped. she really liked the pic and used it as an idea for a tatoo she got.
the only thing i have seen with worms eating their way out is with superworms and anphibians. reptiles tend to kill them when they bite on them. i feed lots of worms including super and meal worms. the only things to watch for is some impaction issues with mealworms and wax worms can be...
alot of people say panther or veiled is the friendliest. what i'm going to tell you is that it really depends on the chameleon itself. out of mine the only "mean" ones are the female veileds. my "friendliest" is my male veiled. the panthers are kind of in the middle. the jackson's are about...
