Do you have a feed supply store around you? You can get chick or game bird feed. It is hard to tell from the photo, but I think it is either a chicken or similar. At that age it will not need any additional heat.
Are you sure they are chickens? They could be chicks of another species. Could you post a picture of them? Is there anyone who keeps chickens nearby? The best thing to do is to return them if they are not wild. If they are, you will need to know the species.
The whole problem was fixed by moving Emoji into his big boy DragonStrand cage. The cat doesn't even glance at him anymore. :p Even if she did, I don't think she could open it. DragonStrand cage is so much more secure than Reptibreeze!
Gaping can be a sign of multiple different things... overheating, respiratory infection, etc. Please fill out this form so that we can better understand the situation: https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/
Dubias usually won't breed in typical house environments. It is always great to add more variety to a chameleon's diet, so don't ditch crickets entirely. Also, many chameleons refuse to eat Dubia (mine included), so try feeding him a couple before starting a colony.
How long have you been feeding them the superload? It is very high in calcium (purposely) and will kill insects if fed consistently over a prolonged period of time. I only use the superload to gutload certain insects for a day or two before feeding them off. I never use water crystals, so I...
I know you are looking for a small plant at the moment, but my absolute favorite plant to use is hibiscus. My chameleon loves them the they fill up the cage very nicely. I switch the plant out every week or two with a second one to give them some sunlight and time out of the cage. I have two...
Definitely BSF or some other similar kind of fly larvae. I assume it would probably be ok to feed off, unless you had something toxic in your compost bin. ;). I don't like to give my cham anything hat I'm not 100% sure of, so much safer route IMO would be to just buy some Phoenixworms... But I...

If he is only doing it when sitting underneath the basking light, he could be thermoregulating because he is too warm.
You still really need to fill out the form, but some major light issues you have mentioned are that you have no UVB (which is essential), that you have a night bulb (chameleons need complete darkness to sleep. He might not be getting his rest at night which could lead to him falling asleep...
I'm sorry your chameleon is not doing well. Typically when a chameleon closes it's eyes, it is sick. Please fill out this form, so that we can help you. https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/. I also highly recommend a vet visit. Do you have an experience reptile vet near you?
I personally don't cover the dirt with any kind of mesh, and I have never had a problem. You can, but it's just extra effort. I would think that the higher the dirt the better, though.
I like to to leave the dirt in with the adults for about a week. You should see the eggs (they look like...
Emoji is now one whole year old! Today, we celebrated his hatchday with some Superworms (his favorite) and a hibiscus cupcake! Happy Hatchday, my little man! :D
Happy Hatchday, Pee Wee!!!!! :D:D:D He's one of my favorite chams on the forums! I'm so glad he's doing so well! :) Happy birthday to you and your daughter as well!
I have the largest breeder cage and the size is fine for my guy. HOWEVER, Emoji is not a very large Veiled and he also has a free-range that he visits quite frequently. If your cham is particularly large for his age and species, you might want to go with the keeper for the sake of the extra...
