I always transport Emoji in a dark cardboard box with ventilation holes. The darkness will usually make him fall asleep so that the drive is not too stressful. I also put a couple of sticks through the box for him to sit on. Hope that helps!
When my Veiled was small and young, I would not have trusted him to free-range like he does now. He was constantly wandering and like you said, hard to spot. I know that some people do free-range when they are that young, but I personally think that it would be better for him to grow before...
A good rule of thumb is to not feed anything larger than the width between the eyes. You can grow the pinheads a little bit to reach an appropriate size if necessary. If you add heat to them, they will grow a little faster.
How old is he? Pinheads are awfully tiny for any chameleon that is not a very young baby. They might be too small. Some chameleons don't recognize small food. If you are feeding him hornworms, then he is most likely large enough to be eating small crickets. There is much controversy over...
When you have a whole room in your house devoted to insects and insect breeding projects...,
When you always stop at Home Depot's plant section because you see plants that would be great for expanding the free-range...,
When you don't go on vacation because you can't find a...
Shedding is an uncomfortable and stressful process for chameleons. It is normal for them to react unpleasantly. Do not attempt to peel or pluck any shed off. It helps to increase the misting and humidity to make the shed easier.
I believe that a combination a of both th CGD and insects is recommended for best nutrition. I also know that misting is definitely required because they need fairly high humidity. From what I have read, one misting at night is usually sufficient as long as a bowl of water is provided. I bet...
I don't have a gargoyle right now, but I am in the process of researching their care. I'm very interested to see what other people say. From what I've read and understood, the ideal temperature for a gargoyle is between 70 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Much higher can be detrimental. It seems...
:( Chameleons should not be in pet stores either, but yet, sadly they are. I think we all wish that we could do more to help the pet store-reptile problem. He looks like a gorgeous guy. Hopefully he will find a better home with someone who knows more than the pet store.
Hmm... That does't quite sound right. If you could post a picture of it and fill out this form while your at it: https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/
If it is a little bit of white around the nostrils, then it is nothing to worry about. That is excess salt and minerals. As long as he is getting a varied diet, it should go away after a little while. Contrary popular belief, it is not excess calcium, and you should continue providing...
Those are definitely chickens. You can feed them chick feed until you find either their old home or a new one. You should try asking around or put up a found poster.
I wouldn't use dog food. It is too high in protein and can cause medical problems if fed to feeders that are fed to your chameleon. Superworms can be gutloaded with the same food as crickets.
I always use plain rolled oats. They work fine for me. I find that if you keep too many supers in too small a container it gets moist. I keep my supers in a tall Tupperware, often without a lid.
I might be wrong, but upon further examination of the photo, it looks similar to a peacock chick. It might be better to buy a game bird chick feed, just in case they aren't chickens.
