I'm still a newbie, and I have three pygmy chams right now. They are not "easier" necessarily....you still have to mist them, feed them, clean their cage. They ARE easier to keep in a tank, because they need higher humidity than some of the larger chameleons, and are more adapted to living...
Those darned continents that start with A...so easy to mix them up!:p
If you base some of your studies on Stuey (geography, science) you will learn about him, and lots of other useful stuff too. I admire your Mom for trying to homeschool you....I would KILL my 12-year-old! Seriously, don't...
Heika, those guys are so cool! Esp. Dad! I changed out the paper towels and cleaned the critter keeper today, and after I put the chams back, "Spot" put on some very lichen-y colors. I think I need to move "Stripe" to another container; I think he would eat more, and Spot wouldn't feel the...
Roo--those are some AWESOME brevs! How cool....are they WC, or did you breed them? If you have a lot of them, I may have to think about getting another female.....
Were you saying sexing WC is easier, vs. CB? Of course, I'm guessing most WC are going to be older than my guys. Yeah, Drew...
Yeah, Mike said he would exchange one of the males for another female, if I wanted (and I actually had two males). I'll have to discuss it with Drew. Mike is coming up this way (TN) at Christmas, so that would be a good time to do the exchange. We'll see what the kids want to do...Thanks for...
OK, here are some different pics...not as clear, but they show tails and profiles a little better. The first pic is the for-sure female (I think). Just for fun, the last pic is Drew's face when he "unwrapped" the chams on his birthday...:D
Will, if there are two males, should I separate them?
Jerm,
Meaning that maybe both Stripe and Dot are males? The things I'm looking at are the dorsal crests, overall size, and eye turrets (which you can't see very well in these pics, but they're much more patterned in the two smaller guys).
Thanks for replying!:)
OK, here are some pics of our babies. Mike sent me two females and a male...I think...."Stripe" is by himself, then "Dot" and "Yolanda" (OK, I didn't name them!), then all three together. Educated opinions?
I got three brevs from Mike at FlChams on 9/6. They hatched July 28 (or thereabouts), so they're almost three months. I've had them in the smallest Critter Keeper, with a twig and a small-but-bushy creeping fig (white paper towels on the bottom). We feed them crix daily, dusted w/calcium and...
I know Heika posted about feeding some babies aphids not too long ago. Just be certain there haven't been any pesticides anywhere around for a pretty big radius. You might try posting on the breeding forum; sometimes folks talk about neonate care there, too.
Have fun making your...
My baby brevs are eating fine, but the crix I have (hopefully smaller ones will arrive tomorrow) are pretty big, comparatively. I bought some extra-small pheonix worms, and even put them in a black jar lid, so they'd be more noticable; but the chams don't seem to want them. I check back an...
