Haven't been on here for a while but I'm happy to say that following everything I've read on here has so far kept me with a happy healthy juvenile veiled chameleon. Moe has been through at least three, maybe four sheds so far and each one reveals even sharper coloring. He's going to be a looker...
Also, thanks. I'm assuming GJ is good job. I started off on the wrong foot with him but have fixed the issues thanks to this forum. He has shed twice since I've had him, eats plenty, and drinks. So far so good, no issues. Thanks to all of you it seems I am now doing things right. So, thanks...
Actually he had great aim. Didn't touch my hand at all. I'm sure it is though. I'm going to try and hand feed him a little every few days. Maybe eventually he'll come running for a tasty butterworm when he see's me open the cage.
It's been two months and today was the first day that Moe decided I was cool enough to eat two butterworms from my fingers. I decided to try it out and held the worm a few inches away from him and out front but to the side of his face. At first he thought about walking off and then the worm...
One of my roommates and I were shooting out potential names when she said Moe. It clicked so Moe it is. We kind of made it a shorten name of Maurice I guess because every once in a while when he is misbehaving I call him Maurice. However, 90% of the time it's Moe and it's easy for my roommates...
I guess this is a possibility. However, he wasn't relaxed at all and seemed to almost want to find a way to hide from the world. He pretty much did the low crawl looking for a place to retreat, or that's how it seemed anyway.
The one day it was reading 70 outside with little to no breeze. It...
I saw another post about temperature which answered one of my questions but I didn't want to raid thier post with a question of my own so I figured I would make a seperate post. I was wondering if anybody had to "wean" thier chameleon into being outside and if so how did you do it? I have taken...
I have my feeder cup attached to the side of the cage about a foot and a half from the top of the cage. It's on the opposite side of the basking light. I have two vine "highways" that go to it, one situated to the side of the bowl and one that goes above it so that Moe can choose where he wants...
Wow, I completely missed that part of the directions. Thanks, glad it was a quick and easy fix. I rather it be a mistake on my part rather than a busted component. Thanks again.
Anybody here use a Zilla power center? It has a timer on it where you can set each day and what hour you want the daylight lights to come on as well as off. It is supposed to turn your daylight lights off and then turn your night lighting on. It consists of two yellow timed plug ins for daytime...
Okay, I'll look into it. Maybe I can make something that will go over the cage (that doesn't hang from the cieling) and attach the pathos that way. I'll have to play around a little with it.
I thought about that but how would I do it without messing up the screen? I doubt the screen on the top of the cage could hold it. I'm all ears on making it even better for him.
Moe has now officially spent one full day in his new enclosure. It is a 2'X2'X4' screen cage from DIY cages. It has four live plants inside, one umbrella plant, two different types of dracaena's, and a golden pothos. Lighting is a 5.0 UVB Repti Glo 18" bulb, basking light is a 50 watt basking...
I know what you are talking about but didn't bother filling one out since he isn't really sick right now and it was just a couple of questions about shedding. As far as the enclosure goes. I know it's not a suitable chameleon enclosure, at least not for a veiled which is why I've purchased a new...
Not sure the age exactly but is young. He is about four inches long excluding the tail. He is currently in an exo terra terrarium (medium) which is why I want to get him into his new enclosure asap. Everything that I have read has pointed that I started off on the wrong foot but I'm doing my...
Well, Moe's first shed with me but my first time dealing with a lizard shedding (I've never really kept lizards before Moe) is starting today. I notices his skin on his legs peeling. I have a couple of questions about it, especially since I'm expecting his new cage tomorrow and want to try and...
Would holding out on feeding him crickets be a no no for a chameleon so small/young? He is about 4 inches. If I don't feed him any crickets maybe he will get hungry enough that he can't help but try the worms.
