Sorry for your loss, just lost my first boy Jasper last month and I know the pain. Take the time you need to grieve and if/when you're ready, you'll be a wonderful caretaker for another little dragon again :)
I would also say just because a cham appears to be healthy with a smaller enclosure doesn't mean it always will be and isn't a valid reason to not give it more space. If anything having more space and foliage will make the cham feel safer and hopefully less skittish.
I’d recommend shooting an email to Todd at Light Your Reptiles for some ideas. His customer service is excellent and he was on the chameleon Breeder podcast
Guess I'll have to pry harder to get that grill off. I can see how people get lots of cuts in their hands working with little sharp pieces like this...
That’s the thing, the other side is what faces out and I can’t find any visible screws, but the other grill on the fixture has no fan and looks like this and tbh I can’t even see if these little holes are threaded or not.
So I might’ve gotten impatient and decided to take a look at the fan. Managed to get it out and disconnected but for the life of me couldn’t get that back grill off. I have the little ifixit kit with the plastic wedge/pry thingy but just couldn’t do it, which sucks cuz I really need to see the...
Nope, it's inside the top of the fixture which I can only see if I'm a few steps above. I'd gladly throw that brown/tan fan in there for a little peace and quiet. I'm gonna let the stock fan run for a few days and see if it quiets down any, then I'm gonna open it up and see what equivelant I...
That looks pretty dead to me, having just lost my panther a few weeks ago. If your guy isn't responding to any stimuli, doesn't show ANY signs of breathing, is basically limp, I'd probably say he's gone.
On a side note, I don't think anyone here is going to berate you, we just want to try and...
So I just got the T5 Quad fixture from LYR and it seems updated from the review on here a few years ago (mentioned having 3 plugs and mine has 1, plus newer looking connectors for the bulb). The only thing so far that's bugging me, and I know this is nitpicky, is the fan in the fixture has this...
Ignorant people gonna be ignorant . Your roommate would be the type of person to kill their chameleon with too much handling and stress, the one who'd post a pic of their cham sleeping on them saying "AWW LOOK HOW COMFY HE IS"
Just figured I’d update and let ya know the drain update is all finished and leak tested. Thank you all for the advice. I dumped way more water into the tray than it would ever see in a day and it’s working perfectly :).
I've seen a few more basic kits at Josh's Frogs: https://www.joshsfrogs.com/instantsearchplus/result/?q=arcadia
But nothing like a quad fixture that LYR sells. I will say the customer service at LYR is great and Todd is pretty dang fast at responding to emails (y) , so I'm happy to take my...
I was thinking of getting this one, is there an advantage to the one Repto posted vs this? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GT4EQYG/?coliid=IFZLYVBQ94EL3&colid=2HUXV1YG942WO&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
Thanks! I was thinking I could get some metal thing and secure it to the cage. A cage topper might not be out of the question but I'm not terribly handy.
So I'm looking for a solution to raise the basking light off the top of the screen cage without drilling into my wall or ceiling or buying some metal wire rack to go over my cage (don't have space for that). I'd love for there to be some kind of adjustable thing I could secure to the edge of the...
Finally had some time to sit down and actually do this. It says it cures in 30 mins, but I’m gonna let it sit for a day before I screw the hose attachment into it.
