    Chameleon Purr?

The book is called The Chameleon Handbook by Francois Le Berre. I picked it up at the store the other day to check out. It says it may be used as a form of communication with other chameleons.

    Chameleon Purr?

So I read in a chameleon book today that Chamaeleonids are known to emit purrs from their body much like other members of the animal kingdom. Apparently you can even feel it to the touch too! Has anyone ever felt or heard their cham purr?

    Tips on handling my Veiled

My veiled is around the same age, he is extremely shy so I feel your pain! The first thing I did was let him get used to me having the cage door open. He eventually would come out to bask again...Then i started offering him snacks by hand. If he associates snacks with handling he might not be so...

    How does your cham drink?

My 4 monthish old veiled refuses to drink off of anything but his pothos! Although when he was around one month he would drink the droplets off the top of the cage left from a good misting :)

    Handling question

How would you recommend taming him if he is very shy as far as hand feeding. I have held crickets to his face before and he has not been interested when I present them. I noticed the other day that as long as I sit next to his cage for a few minutes after misting/feeding that he relaxes a little...

    Handling question

So I would like to be able to buy my approximately 4 month old veiled a plant to free range on and sit next to a window in my apartment. The question I have is if it would be wise to attempt this? He is very very shy about me coming in and around his cage...usually leaving his basking spot and...

    Age of veiled?

Yes, he is most certainly a male, as his spurs are clearly visible now. In the past few weeks I have noticed some features that can clearly be seen now...like his fingers...for some reason i thought this was funny. His legs have become much more solid looking and not so skinny now, his spikes...

    Age of veiled?

Hey all, I have had my veiled now for about two and a half months and am still not sure what his age is! If you all could give me your opinions I would appreciate it! He was very small when I got him...probably very young too.

    Food for baby cham

Hello, currently I am feeding my baby veiled crickets and mealworms. I understand he needs a variety for his diet, but I cannot find any stores near me that sell anything other than the usual feeders. Do you all have suggestions on what is small enough to feed him, and where I can find them online?

    Baby Veiled color question

Hello all, as a new cham owner, I am still learning about my new baby and noticed some cool patterns on my male. I could not manage a picture, but he will get dark green and white patterns along his spine, and the rest of his body will be a bright green. I have only seen this pattern when he is...

    Funny Chameleons

Hey all! So I have had my baby veiled for about a week now, and as a new cham owner, I started to notice some pretty funny things these guys do! Bruce is usually an acrobat, but today he was climbing across a vine that bent the longer he stayed on it. When he finally grabbed the vines he was...

    Age/Sex of baby veiled?

Hey all, i was wondering if you guys knew the age/sex of this baby veiled. I was told it was a male. It is too small to see any spur, and as this is my first chameleon I am a bit curious as I have been calling him Bruce! (Bruce Lee). It is very small, but has a heck of an appetite! Sorry for...

    Baby veiled question

Hello, this may be a silly question but is it normal for my baby male veiled to have brown horizontal dashes across his side? He seems to be very healthy, always hungry and active during the day and sleeps all night. He keeps hydrated as I always see him next to his dripper. His cage temps are...

    New owner help :)

I will try this out tomorrow when I feed him again :). My last question is if it is safe to put some sort of cricket feed in there just to be safe about the crickets biting him.

    New owner help :)

What does cup feeding require? Today I took a small plastic container and dusted about 6 crickets and just set it in his enclosure for him to hunt. Is this okay?
