And all through my house is the sounds of crickets, butterworms and YES my 2 new Veiled Chameleons!! Finally got my enclosure built and today was the big day. We picked up a 4 month old female and male (from different litters). The are getting used to their new home as I type. The female has...

I agree that the picture that Chameleon76 posted is one of the nicest I've ever seen as well. I wish I could find one that nice in Canada! Gordo

    Changing Colour

I was speaking with a local zoologist and he said since they (Chameleons) cannot hear this is their only way to communicate. Each color change symbolizes a message. I have also read what Stuey has said as well. The biggest myth is they change by environment. Hope this helps. Gordo

    Humidifiers

I've doing more rsearch and this has been one of my most confusing topics. I had an interesting conversation with a local zooligist. When I showed him pictures of my proposed enclosure he said why would you have that much ventolation in it? That will be impossible to keep it humid which is...

    misting early in the morning

Great question Lenny I was wondering the same thing about a misting schedule. So far my reasearch has said it doesn't matter or you should wait for the lights to come on. I'm going to lean towards waiting for the lights to come on, although this is one the questions I have for my vet tonight...

Getting ready to take the plunge

I checked with a local supplier today and they stock 100W, 160W. If I want to go higher (or lower for that matter) they are special order which takes about 2 business days to get in. I'm starting to lean towards this style of lighting for ease of use (1 bulb does it all). There is some pretty...

Getting ready to take the plunge

Yes I have another question. Does anyone out here use mercury vapor (metal halide) lighting in their setup? I was reading that you can use one of these systems for not only a heat light but it also replaces your reptiglo 5.0 light. I used to use metal halide lights in my aquarium business for...

Getting ready to take the plunge

Man this is stellar information! Thanks so much. One of the troubles I'm running into is finding some of the products listed. I'm wondering if I should buy a smaller cage and then upgrade into the new structure once he is a little older (advantage is now I would have 2 cages, see where this...

Getting ready to take the plunge

Hey everyone, I'm getting ready to purchase my first Veiled Chameleon in the next few weeks but before I do that I wanted to run past you what I plan on doing and I'm hoping you can set me straight if my research has lead me to some wrong conclusions. Here goes. Chameleon: I'm looking for...

Morning All, I just wanted to take a quick second to introduce myself. My name is Gord (username Gordo) and I'm from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I'm a rookie to owning Chameleon's but I have been doing my research for over two months and I believe I'm ready to take the plunge. I have been...
