Kepler acting strange, awake for most of the night

I finally heard back from the vet. Kepler died from acute renal failure. His right kidney was inflamed with a bacterial infection. The caracardio (??) sack was full of uric acid crystals as well. It's nice to know what happened, just wish I could have caught it sooner.

I thought about that but would rather not go through the hassle of shipping things.

Kepler acting strange, awake for most of the night

Anyone have any suggestions on where or how I can go about selling his food? I have a large dubia colony, silk worms, calcium suppliments, & gutload I no longer need (apparently craigslist doesn't allow pet postings).

Kepler acting strange, awake for most of the night

The restlessness makes me think it is parasites. I just wish I would have been able to catch it earlier :( Thanks for everyone's responses, I'll report back if the vet gives any news.

Kepler acting strange, awake for most of the night

I imagine that if it were parasites then they came from the local store. My dubia colony has been feeding him for 2 years now with no problem. The silk worms are also so susceptible to infection I don't see how they'd be infected with parasites. I'm just curious as to how long the parasite...

Kepler acting strange, awake for most of the night

Kepler died this morning before I could get him to the vet; unfortunately they aren't open on the weekends =( I'm starting to think it was parasites as Lovereps suggested, but I can't figure out where they would have came from. His strength had diminished to the point where he could no...

Kepler acting strange, awake for most of the night

Well his health seems to have taken a turn for the worst. He slept through most of the day yesterday; I figured it might be because he was up all night. But now he's still sleeping and his eyes are pretty sunken in. He seems really weak and is having a hard time walking. I forced him to...

Kepler acting strange, awake for most of the night

Hey AngieL, thanks for the reply. Because of the prep for the move, Kepler did no change time zones. When LV entered daylight savings time back in the fall I never adjusted his lighting schedule (due to laziness). When we moved, Arizona time lined up with his lighting schedule - so he saw...

EMERGENCY - Kepler having inner ear problems?

Would some sort of infection only manifest symptoms at night and 30 days apart? That's the only thing that would make me doubt an infection =(

EMERGENCY - Kepler having inner ear problems?

Hi guys, At the advice of everyone here I didn't pay much attention hoping it was an isolated incident. Well tonight it happened once again. This time Kepler woke from a dead sleep and started walking forward and only being able to turn left with symptoms exactly like the ones posted...

Bad aim - vit A treatment options?

The inside of his mouth looks perfectly normal to me, I'll double check tomorrow. I have no reason to suspect mouth injury - he eats fine when he does nab the food. He may be slightly dehydrated from time to time...but he's such a picky eater & drinker I'm not sure how to correct that. I...

Bad aim - vit A treatment options?

not entirely sure what happened. Seems to be a one time occurrence - here's the thread I posted when it happened...plenty of discussion within. I'll check those out later this evening...but he's kind of been a bad shot his entire life so who knows. You say 'once or twice' - do you mean once...

Bad aim - vit A treatment options?

Hi everyone, Kepler is doing well, besides the fact that his aim is horrible. A few people on these forums have mentioned that Vit-A is a treatment option for tongue problems and I was wondering if that would possibly help with his bad aim. I currently have a supply of Repashy VitA+ and...

EMERGENCY - Kepler having inner ear problems?

All his legs seem pretty normal. He was up and about when I got home yesterday and seemed 100% normal. I took him out for a while until he decided to poop on me =(. I do actually. His cage is adjacent to my reef tank, which occasionally has a storm (simulated lightning). The odd thing is...

EMERGENCY - Kepler having inner ear problems?

He woke up about an hour before I had to leave for work, I observed him as much as possible while getting ready and he seemed fine. I'm mainly concerned because this has never happened before and it seemed like he couldn't move right. He leaned left and walked in a circle to the left which is...
