You can get some ficus plants at places like Home Depot pretty cheaply. Just make sure to get rid of the soil it comes in, I just hose it all off outside on the lawn, then repot with fresh soil.
Also, home depot has some great bamboo "stakes" in the garden center. You can buy a long stick...
I get mine from: http://www.blackjungle.com/home.htm. They're pretty fast with delivery. Unfortunately, I do not have any fruit flies at the moment myself.
Here's a couple of my favorites that I've used and would recommend:
For Silkies and Hornworms: http://www.coastalsilkworms.com
For Crickets and Superworms: http://www.premiumcrickets.com
For Phoenix worms and Fruitflies: http://www.blackjungle.com/home.htm
I would stay away from...
Yeah I tried one time to order from Wormman and a month later still no delivery. I finally started to email them daily and eventually did get my refund.
Never again would I try using them.
Hornworm Pods are now available at Coastal Silkworms if anyone is interested.
Each pod contains 12+ hornworms and enough food to grow them to full size at over 3" long and the cost is $9.98 per pod.
I might have to give them a try now that I can get them locally and I like the pod idea...
I just use a pair of wooden bamboo tongs I bought from a pet store. They also have some metal ones in various sizes. I just pick up the worms, toss them in a plastic cup, shake the calcium and vitamins on them, then pick them up and put them in my chameleon's feeding cup.
Does anyone use pet insurance for their reptiles? I was wondering if these policies were worthwhile? With the high vet costs nowadays I've been considering it.
Does anyone have any ideas on where to purchase the Reptisun 10.0 long fluorscent bulbs? The only place online I'm finding is Big Apple (which I've never used) and my local pet stores don't seem to carry that bulb.
There's no way crickets can get out of Blue's aluminum cage because the screen is so small. I just release about 8-10 crickets usually every two or three days in there. The crickets tend to congregate toward the top of the inside screen walls so when there aren't many up there I put another...
I have an aluminum enclosure where I don't have to worry about the crickets getting loose in the house. I just release a handful every couple days and they hop all around in the enclosure.
I also have silkworms that I place on branches in the ficus tree and I have a plastic feeding cup set...
