Do sperm plugs represent a vitamin A deficiency?

I keep other reptiles and in Geckos a smegma buildup is indicicative of a vitamin A deficiency. Is it the same thing for chams? I have read all over that is totally normal but what if we’ve missed something? What if it’s a deficiency?

    Veterinarians

First off your cham looks fantastic and in great health. Great job. Tell us more details about your supplements regiment. Multivitimins? D3 or not? How often? Can you post a photo of your entire enclosure? I would have the fecal matter tested for parasites. Any odd behavior or physical features...

We Need To Do Better, We Can

Why don’t we start a wiki that members can edit? It would allow thorough care sheets for every species but so much more. It would be searchable. It would allow citing sources. The information would be easily linkable here on the forums, and we could direct new members to it easily. This is a...

My Cham died and I’m confused

Just from the photos he was incredibly dehydrated. Hurts to even look at that photo. You can’t leave a cham with a friend who doesnt care for chams and expect them to be alive when you return.

    Could someone check please

They are asking, “Is it a bulb or a long tube?” Everyone here will recommend a T5HO bulb format. The compact bulbs that fit in incandescent type fixtures just don’t seem to be adequate for good chameleon health. The T5HO fixtures aren’t cheap though, like everything else with chameleons. Edit...

    New Addition

You have my support. I don’t know why you got jumped all over about it the first time you visited. I think it’s a fantastic idea. The chameleons you chose are gorgeous. I encourage you to get on of some holdbacks from FLchams.com for ambilobe breeding. They also have stunning females. Most...

    New cham.

Yea try to get a return. Any respectable breeder would agree if they told you it was male and made an error.

All Screen or Some Clear Sides?

So, no one else has answered so I’ll help you out. Chameleons are from windy regions and actually need some air movement to breathe properly. This is why chameleons in fully glass enclosures don’t live long. The lack of air flow combined with the heat of the lamps leads to bacterial growth and...

    Substrate advice???

The only reason for substrate is to set up a bio active substrate. This is where you have bugs that earth the chameleon poop and it becomes fertilizer for the soil. Otherwise, the cage should have no substrate at all. This makes cleaning and drainage easy and prevents the possibility of you...

It took twenty years to get that much growth?? Sounds like it is not a viable option for me. Those Christ in the manger flowers look like something an artist would dream up on an alien planet. Stunning
