Hi All,
Just thought I'd post a few pics of Mya now she's finally shed!
She's doing really well! Eating fab and I'm just in love with her! She's such a sweet heart!
She's so shiny!!
Just thought I'd share a few more pics :)
Got her out yesterday to weigh her as suspected she needs bigger feeders (which she does) so have ordered online.
She only weighs 146g but body condition wise she is apparently healthy.
Hopefully she'll pile on the pounds now she'll be getting...
Thanks Kath :)
I know what u mean Carol. I don't mind the rats at all. The locusts freaked me out more than they do. I'm just pleased I don't have to cull them! I couldn't do that!!
Hoping to try feeding her tonight :) Came down this morning to find a huge poop and Mya curled up under her...
Thanks Laurie!
Its only a 24" viv as she's just a baby so don't want to un nerve her in a viv that's too big.
I think she's about 20" long maybe? and thickness of 2 fingers I think. U can see better in the vids.
Was hoping to weigh her when I got her home but I forgot to be honest and...
She seems to like it up here a the moment but keeps going off for another look around :)
A little dip in the pool :)
She was just chilling by her pool when I went up to run Lucas's bath
Now I've come down, she's up her tree again!!!
Can't keep up with her...
Thanks :)
She seems happy enough. Just hanging out on her tree at the mo.
Thanks Jann :) It's nice to see a light in that corner again :)
Off to upload some more pics of her exploring from this morning :)
I'm so excited I could pop!!
Brought Mya home today
As you will see in vid and pics I've replaced the reptibark with beech chips as the humidity was just too high (plus I kept getting little splinters in my hands from the bark!)
Vid was taken on my phone so not the best quality and I...
All done :)
LED lights installed and viv lock on :)
Providing the temps and humidity remain correct throughout tomorrow, I can bring her home on Saturday!!! Eeeeeek!!!
Here's some pics with the lights on:
I can't wait to see her in there!!
Not sure exactly what day she'll come home Kath as just getting her setup right first, but deffo early next week.
Temps seem to be levelling out around 32C now so that's good.
Get her LED lights today so need to get those installed.
Humidity was looking high so I've left the orchid bark...
As the temps weren't getting high enough, I've now reinstalled the heat mat inside the viv, as it says to for wooden vivs. I hadn't realised it had specific instructions in the packet DOH! It says just to put it on the wood floor as wood is a great insulator.
As you know it also says not to...
It's all set up :)
Waiting for LED lights and Viv lock. Then when temps n humidity satisfactory I can bring her home :)
Tiny compared to simbas enclosure!!
Took doors off to show inside as gloomy in that corner! Popped a tree branch in to give her the option of a little climb :)...
Awww that's a lovely thing to say, thanks Laurie!!! :)
Royals grow to between 3and 5feet long. Some wild ones make 6ft.
She'll last a lot longer than Simba! Expected lifespan is 20-30 years :)
The longest lived recorded royal was 47!!!
I'll be a granny n still have her!!! That feels...
As above.
Their latin name "python regius" means royal python, but they tend to be given the name ball python because of their tendency to curl up in a ball when they feel threatened.
They are one and the same tho :)
