I have 8 left, now 5 weeks old. Most are nice & chunky. There is one that is weak so I'll be surprised if he makes it. Sadly lost dad today for unknown reasons, gutted. Hoping mum retained sperm for another clutch, so fingers crossed
Hi :)
My jacksonii jacksonii female (cb) gave birth to 14 babies 5 days ago & I just have a few questions if anyone can help?
11 have survived but there is one with a protruding eye that I'm worried about, seems quite weak and dark in colour- any thoughts?
How often should I dust their...

This is Milo, 1 of 3 mellers my local reptile shop got in (wc import). I was very lucky to get him, the females left as soon as they came in. He's gorgeous, very chilled out. He has a few battle wounds, but nothing a bit iodine won't fix.
Waiting for his shower
Beautiful tail
Having...
The attached pics were taken early July, I'm not sure if this was the peak of his size but he was over 500g.
This was taken today
This is his sister who is gravid (infertile clutch) & currently 295g. They are the same age
He peaked at 590g, so I hope you're right. The vet didn't seem concerned about his weight to be honest - he didn't even weigh him at the last consultation. It's just weird to have him refuse food! but I went through the same with Neelix and Alfie...maybe I should look at it the same way- chams...
Riker, my male oustalets is on hunger-strike & for some bizarre reason his head is nearly always black and white where the rest of him is brown. He has also lost weight. I've also had to help him with removing sperm deposits from his vent. His background can be found here...
Riker went back to the vets today as he still refuses to eat. I've tried opening his mouth and putting feeders in but he just spits them out. The vet said his general condition is good but decided to take bloods.
He tested some while we were there, as he wanted check his electrolyte levels...
tell me about it! she can't even claim to be big-boned, she's just plain fat lol I'll get some weight off her though, I want to enjoy as many years with her as possible.
Lol love that, 'happily fluffy'. The vet wasn't too suprised, apparently captive tegus are generally fluffy lol she's a beauty, I hope she gets to like hanging out with us
Thanks :D She's so funny. If she's scared or nervous she just huffs & closes her eyes- she's convinced if she can't see me, I'm not there. She's got easier to handle the past few days, at first she kept whipping me with her tail & she is stong!
This is my newest addition, Petal the black and white tegu. She's about 5 years old. I purchased her from my local reptile shop who took her on as a rescue. She was very shy the first couple of days & a little dehydrated when we got her home, but she's soon learned to like her new 7ft viv (the...
Lol I believe it's you who feels supers are the devil's food? Cos I'm inclined to agree with u now! They were wiped out by a virus in the UK for ages & Neelix refused to eat for months! I'm getting a delivery tomorrow but this thread has made me decide Riker won't be getting any of them.
Also, u...
Not at all. I have enough problems with Neelix & super worms. Part of me feels I shouldn't offer Riker supers at all but I'm worried about him. The majority of his diet has been 1/3 locusts, 1/3 dubias & 1/3 silks
I thought the same thing about his diet & I've been through it with my yemen and my male panther.... it's just such a shock to have an animal reduce it's appetite so dramatically. I really hope you're right though :)
It terms of stress, he's been looking dull and wrinkly. He's also been...
