    Jackson's Subspecies

...underneath just as panthers do but a little more subtle. The females will have thinner tail that is straight all the way back. This doesn't work well in sexing young juveniles as some males develop later than others. Errors can occur. If it passes slugs or has babies it is always a female...

    Is i tpregnant?

I agree with @JacksJill here. W/c will almost certainly be gravid, or else have retained sperm. And if a CB female even sniffed a male, I’d err on the side of gravid too. Best advice: be ready for babies! And…”raise ‘em separate and get ‘em cold.”

hello my t. jacksonii is really female?

In this subspecies the females are most likely to be receptive just after they pass slugs, little yellow egg yolk looking things the size of a poop. Try breeding 7-14 days after they pass slugs. You can try letting them see each other from afar for a few days before putting them together. I...

    Captive garden snails?

I was just wondering because I'd rather start with clean snails because I'm paranoid about contaminated feeders.

    Uh, oh....

Here's the male in his temp setup. @MissSkittles You could try rough green snakes as they are primarily insectivorous, also garter snakes are primarily, worm, fish, slugs, eaters.

Rainbow Jackson's Chameleon claim to be female .

...in adults. It's not as obvious as it is in panthers but it is a tell. I don't know of anyway to tell gravid from just carrying infertile slugs. Their body shape changes whether they are carrying either, In females with an uncertain history you just have to expect babies. Looking at her...

Jacksonii, does male have a temper?

...self. I have not observed any seasonal change but under artificial light I'm not likely to catch that. Females are a different matter. Females are more readily receptive in the week to 2 weeks after passing slugs or having babies. There may be other times as well but that one seems consistent.

    not eating?

4 months apart is a possibility for another clutch. Females have shorter life spans than males bred or not they can have difficulties giving birth or passing slugs, unfertilized ova.

On this episode of keeping up with the Joneses

Females will pass slugs when sexually mature. Some pass them a few times a year. If the ova don't get fertilized eventually they are passed just like chicken eggs, I have one girl who just passed them for the first time at 3 years old but she had reproductive problems early on and I thought she...

Considering a Jackson chameleon, questions about temp drop

Thanks, that's a lot of really helpful information, I appreciate it. I have a handheld temp gauge gun that I was planning on using, should I use a probe instead?

    3rd time egg laying

Thank you for helping narrow things down! The passed slugs are concerning because none of those follicles would be that big if passed based on that x-ray view. So that would be more consistent with a clutch that was in the process of development but is regressing now. She may have passed the...

On this episode of keeping up with the Joneses

...since I posted an update on sejuani, my Jacksonii I got from @JacksJill. She’s such a good girl, finally got her to eat roaches after months of trying. She doesn’t seem to be into worms, but she loves black soldier flies. Still haven’t experienced “slugs” yet, unless I’m super blind and...

Worse than when the cricket bag breaks

I'd like to know too. That'd be cool to give him some slugs. All though I read that slime horror story. & I'd be scared to feed Wasabi that. Lol maybe I'll stay away from the slime. 🤢

    Is my Jacksons Chameleon pregnant??

She is just going in places she doesn't normally go, she normally sticks to the same couple spots. Then I noticed like holy buckets she is kinda chunky. So I googled it and here we are. I haven't noticed anything weird. Just her normal poops i believe. We got her out in Washington. And a few...
