What do you mean slugs? She’s a beautiful girl!

    White worms on egg

Wondering the same. I still tend to lean that they’re eating failed eggs. I feel like it would be pretty rare for worms to be feeding on the eggs, otherwise we’d see it here very often. Of course I can’t say for sure, and I think we all agree either way that it’s a good idea to be safe and...

Just one more time, going for the ultimate build

Well, they get massively attracted to the trap, however they won’t go in it, yet! At least 20 slugs are already near and on the trap. With the worms I’m using the Dendrobena Veneta, should be a ‘normal’ one, I hope?!

Because she’s a Jacksonii she doesn’t actually lay eggs. They give “live birth” becuase they incubate the eggs inside themselves. So when she’s of age she will give birth to undeveloped eggs called slugs

Yes, something like it. I lost one of my favorite girls after she passed a very large slug. It was more than double the size of a normal one. I didn't have the heart to do a necropsy on her but I suspect she either had another like it she couldn't pass or passing it damaged her in someway. Now I...

I can’t recall the details, but I do recall hearing something about beer traps being good at getting rid of slugs. Maybe @jamest0o0 knows? I have been wanting to get different kinds of isopods, but it is low on my priority list. I have only giant canyons. I had started with some zebra and...

    Is i tpregnant?

If she is a wild import she is likely pregnant. Unless she was raised in an individual cage from an early age she is likely pregnant. There is no indicator that I have ever found on the outside. I can't even tell with bred females weather they will have babies or pass slugs (unfertilized ova).

    First Breeding Attempt

No success on this first attempt. Put him in her cage, and immediately rejected him. When should I try again? Should I wait till I know she passed slugs? I don’t want to stress him out from handling, and stress her out by shoving a male in her enclosure. Thanks

    Sudden deaths

Speaking to the possibility of kidney failure, their kidneys sit partially in the pelvic canal. This makes them vulnerable to damage by anything lodged in the pelvis like overly large eggs or constipation, by crushing and circulation disruption. They would also be just as vulnerable to infection...

Have to Jackson mating season ?

My outdoor Jackson's do slow down and I have not seen the females pass slugs in the winter. I have not seen any particular time in the warmer months when they are all passing slugs or receptive. My weather doesn't parallel the wet and dry seasons of Kenya at all so I have little reason to think...

Sea Slug Decapitates Itself—Grows New Body

What I want to know is, how exactly did the slug accomplish this feat of self-mutilation? Broken glass? Rusty metal? Was there a little guillotine in the lab? 🤷‍♂️

What is the most interesting species you've found while herping?

...have evolved too not have legs, the dropping of tail or caudal autotomy its proper term is a defence mechanism. The tail carries on wiggling for some time afterwards to keep the would be predator occupied while it makes its escape. They are practically harmless otherwise and pray on slugs mainly.

    Captive garden snails?

...is the only one I know of that’s really a concern, and that’s not all that common. Not that I’d willingly allow it, but my chams have eaten slugs outside and I’ve seen people feed them off on here. Never had or heard of any issues. Of course, people should still breed them out to be on the...

    Cool looking snail (slug)

Well it's definitely not a garden slug lol kinda looks like a dark version of a banana slug.

No worries James, already considered the options with @Mendez . And was thinking about nocturnal gecko, like a leaf tail or eyelash. But, I don’t trust Neo, she hunts down everything in her enclosure and knows every inch. She patrols constantly in search for food. At the moment everything is...

Very informative and thank you so much for sharing. My first chameleon ever was a female Jackson’s. I definitely have a soft spot for them but have avoided montane species since they need such a drastic drop in night time temps. This is really great information to know should I ever try my hand...

    Jackson's Chameleon gave birth tonight

I’m not sure either, I’ve only had male Jackson’s. I’m surprised there were only two though. You said there were some slugs, how many?

Boaz , our new Parson’s girl

I’m keeping track of her in this thread https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/new-cb-oe-parsons-keeper.186523/page-3#post-1732609 I feed her as much as she’ll eat. And finally started to eat more then just crickets and BSF’s. She now also eats redrunners and dubia even spot her this week...

Have to Jackson mating season ?

...but not receptive females can be aggressive with males. I have never seen it look like that. Hard to tell from one photo. If she passes ova (slugs) or gives birth she will be receptive a week or two after that. I have read of people letting them see each other from a distance and slowly...
