Oliver Has Blossomed!

For the past 2 weeks, I've been giving Oliver the opportunity to free range. I would leave the cage door open, and put a branch leading to the FR, for 4+ hours.
He never even seemed interested. I tried everything from putting worms on the branch leading to the FR, showing him his feeding cup, and putting it in the free range, but never picking him up and putting him there.
If you haven't read my previous blogs, you probably don't know that Oliver would never let me put my hand anywhere near him. Even if it was to feed him.
Well today I felt especially confident to handle Oliver. So I decided to kind of test the waters and put my hand near him.
I ended up actually touching him. He didn't even mind!!! I was still a little nervous actually picking him up with my hand, with fear that he would bite me. So I got a small branch, and lifted him up with that.
Once Oliver got on the branch, he got a little upset that I was trying to take him away from his home. I kept moving him towards the FR, and he ended up just hanging out there.
Sadly I had forgotten that we were leaving in half an hour, so he only got to be on his FR for about 25 minutes (under supervision).

Getting him off of the free range was a completely different story! It took about 5 minutes to get him off. In the mean time, he decided to fire up really nicely! About 2 months ago, I was worried, because Oliver had little to no color. But today I saw blues, greens, reds, and a little bit of yellow. :)

It made me so happy to see him so colorful, and gave me so much hope for his future color! :)

Thank you for reading! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
