Yesterday, my favorite rescue was rehomed. I am sad and happy, but mostly sad today.
Bendy was taken from a pet shop with fractures to her legs, wholley inapropriate husbandry (literally, i couldnt list all the things that were wrong) and a number of vitamin deficiencies. She had been fed FAR FAR FAR to much calcium, without d3. Anyone reading this will be aware and be able to imagine what a state she was in.
She couldnt stand on my hand and was black. I estimated her age at around 5-6 months although she was very very small.
Well, cutting a long story short, bendy came on in leaps and bounds with the correct care and meds,regaining stregnth, gaining grams and GROWING! boy did she grow!
She was rehomed with a guy who had just lost a female veiled and was ready to give another one a good and caring home. Although her legs are still "bendy" they are strong, and with the right care she will thrive.
Although it was kinda gut wrenching to see her leave, the guy, was absolutely bessoted with her, and i felt happy that she would be looked after once I had given the guy all the info he needed to keep her that way.
This morning when i went to turn on her lights, there was just an empty enclosure
It was a bit like when she was so so tiny and when I turned on her lights in the morning I would spend ages just simply trying to locate her, so as not to drown her whilst misting!
But this morning, she wasnt there at all
Bendy was my little fighter, and im sure she will bring as much happiness to her new home as she did to mine
