Zoo Med Reptibator

So far I've been using this unit for about 2 weeks now and I have nothing but good things to say. I've had good humid air, constant temp and no heating element/fan failures(ExoTerra hunk of sh*&!!!). The unit can hold plenty of eggs as well. As always I have a seperate gauge inside to measure temp and humidity as it seems on any incubator what you enter as the temp isn't alwasy what you get.

Local store here because it was an emergency due to my other incubator failing. They are available online too.

I don't know what method I want to use in the future. I got a long time to think about it.

I was just looking at these, like right now..i have to replace 2 incubators with somthin i know will work..i just cant stand cheap styrofoam crap (almost as bad as having a good looking exo-terra that fails)..is this also styrofoam like the hova-bator?? cause i cant pay 100 for foam..i just cant doo it..please tell me its at least thin cheap plastic..i will buy it if it is..

No it's foam. I think the price is all wrapped into the technology of the lid itself. If it saved potentially $30k worth of eggs. $100.00 is ok by me.

DAMNIT!!! and yes totally agree with you...im just going to have to invest..i just cant spend 100 on foam (i used to do that when i was into rc aircraft, and at least i could fly that foam, lol)

looks like im gunna dig a hole for myself and invest in one of those huge systems..damit!!


what do you think of this lil cheapo model?? looks ok, its only half the price of the check im getting back from crapso-terra for the defective batch of incubators i got from them

this thing is just a suped-up hovbator. It has no cooling function. It is probably more durable than exoterra (because it is simple) but if your AC busts during the summer you better be at home with some ice packs ready in the freezer.

one of the main issues i have in ca (same as you) it gets unreasonbly hot outta nowhere some times..and it will need to be able to cool..my incubators hardly ever heated, always needed to cool..

these dont cool do they?

It looks like an egg poacher to me!! LOL I, fortunately being in the NE have to worry about it being warmer not so much cooler. Everything is in my basement so humidity is good regardless and temp stays in the high 60's low 70's in the summer.

Ya same here. We do not have AC. So the house is like 80 sometimes (rarely).

exactly same here..my room is the "death room" its either freezing at night, or soo hot i turn all my chams lights off and just let them chill in the windows..

well good news, exo-terra (well actually NORA @ exo-terra) is letting me keep one of the bad incubators, and is sending me a refund check as soon as they get a broken one back to check in..

well my plan is to mod one with separate electonics and make my own reliable unit..

and i hate to say but may try one of those repti-pro 6000's and see if it lasts..(one main reson i like these incubators is ive had styro ones tip over, or just move too easy, its unsettling) so well see..

and ideas on what would work good in modding the exo-terra would be awesome!!
