Hey guys my vield cham will not stop laying eggs shes starting to scare us.. what can we do??shes not even digging any more just laying them on top of the soil I cage

Please don't keep making a new thread about the same problem with the same chameleon. It makes it hard for us to follow. See your other thread for my answer.

My cham isnt doing any of that she is climing an laying eggs from her sticks dude our light is in the cage an no we havent put the laying bin back cuz she dont like it!! Her basking light never goes above 85 now fed every 2 days. And it had almost been 5 days since I posted no one responded so I created another so you can see it obviously. My cham isnt being lazy or closing eyess shes bright colored as ever and moving like no tomorrow. I need to know how to stop her from laying eggs

I dont mean to be rude but if it took 4 days an im worried so ya I made another one no problem ever1 sitting here lookin at my posts and im worried an no one posts there 2 cents so I made another no biggie

Multi vitamin by exo terra sprinkled on crickets she been getting less crickets lota water shes usually always green blue yello she hasnt been black in for ever I kno shes happy she just continues to lay eggs we took laying bin out filled cage with 9 inch of soil an stuff an she laid her eggs same day! Thats why I dont put the bin in. The bin had been jn for 3 weeks prior to us switching and soon as we did she laid them eggies

Ok, I'm no expert but I like to think that I know enough in order to provide the proper care for my chameleons and other reptiles.

For starters, even if you could, you don't want to stop her from laying eggs. If she doesn't expel all the eggs she becomes what they call "egg bound" at which point a vet appointment is required otherwise the eggs rot internally and will cause her to pass away.

All you can do is change her care moving forward. To prevent large clutches moving forward you can lower the basking temps and feed her every other day instead of every day. I am sure you can find a care sheet on here that will give you the specifics for the temps to help with the situation.

I hope this helps.

If she is carrying eggs you really need to put her egg bin back in. Try putting a fake vine on the top or something else for cover that she can crawl under. The extra cover might and prob will make her feel much more secure and more comfortable. That little trick actually helped me out about 10 days ago with a panther.
Or have you checked your substrate lately. If it's to dry and she try's to make a tunnel and it just caves in that in itself will be very discouraging.
If all else fails you could try to stick her in a trash can with a dirt sand mix and some sort of cover on top.
I'm no expert but I'm talking from my own experiences. Except the trash can. I've only heard of that working.

First of all...I'm not a dude. My name is Lynda.

You do not want her to stop laying eggs until the clutch is completely laid. Any eggs remaining inside her can rot and kill her. You want them out of her. She is almost certainly going to become eggbound if she doesn't get them out.

So...you are using a MULTIVITAMIN and not dusting with a PHOSPHOROUS - FREE CALCIUM POWDER at all???

Your light is INSIDE the cage?? I hope it's got something to keep her from getting burned?

Now I don't mean to be rude but I either have to spend my time going back to the other threads to see what you said or ask you questions I or someone else may have already asked you....which is why I suggested that you just keep adding to the same thread instead of making new ones...so it's all in one place and easy to follow.

Did she lay the majority of the eggs in a hole and fill it in after? Did anyone disturb her after your grandmother did?

No one disturbed her after grandma after she laid about 58 an took the bin out or take the eggs out and then about two days later she just started laying eggs again not inside of a hole on top of the soil. I habent dusted with the phosphorus or a calcium free vitamin. she's a beautiful color that's no way she can be brown she's bright green yellow blue looks lovely I just don't get how to stop her from laying eggs I guess we'll try our trash can and I'll let you guys know.. my cham laid 45 eggs night ever since shes been layin eggs

So has she laid almost a 100 eggs or what's the count on her egg laying. She probably got discouraged after filling her hole up and seeing your grandmother. But I would definitely put her in the trash can with substrate that will be moist so if you get a handful and squeeze it you get a drip if water or two.

The light should probably be moved for safety sake. Would it be possible to get a picture of her. I hope everything gets fixed and she gets them out all ok. You may try a vet

Did she lay the big number in a hole and fill in the hole? This is important or I wouldn't keep asking until I get an answer.

Do not dust with phosphorous. I'm trying to explain that you need to dust with a calcium powder at almost every feeding with some calcium powder that has NO PHOSPHORUS in it. If you don't do this she will likely develop mbd and she also needs the calcium for shelling the eggs and to make her muscles work to lay the eggs.

She has to lay the eggs or die...once she is done with this batch of eggs she shouldn't lay again for over 120 days.

I'm beginning to think you're trolling.

ok the first night she late 45 in the hole we took it out a couple days later she started to lay eggs on top of the soil. We dust with calcium amd I will post a pci hold on boss. That is her right now

She looks to me like she still has eggs in her abdomen...but can't be sure by just looking at a photo. She also looks a little things by the tail which worries me. Has she gone back to her normal eating?

I know I keep asking this but it's important to know....did she bury the big batch of eggs?????

She burried the 45 batch yes the rest on top soil no mo digging we will go bk to feeding regularly she is very hungry has energy an all just wont stop laying eggies

It might be worth talking to a GOOD reptile vet to see if he would do an xrays to see how many more eggs she has and whether he thinks it would be worth giving her oxcytocin to get them out.

its just like every day she lays one or two a day or so and then overnight its like she grows more in her stomach and then a day later she lays those and then more grow I don't get it but she is not laying huge amounts at once
