Wise, old Cyrus

Just wanted to show a photo of Cyrus, my 11-year-old bearded dragon. I never dreamed he'd be with us for so long, and he shows very little signs of aging!

Just wondered, how big is Cyrus??? He looks pretty cool! Never owned a reptile be4 my 6 mo panther lol

11 years? That's great! We have a bearded dragon also, 9 mths old, and I've always read they live up to 10 years. So you must be doing something right!

Hmmm, good question, I never really measured him. I'm thinking maybe 15-16 inches? He's pretty stocky, though. Here's a full-body photo....

Is the hole in the side of the head a ear canal? Those holes look like trouble for stuff to get stuck inside.

I believe those are the ears... I've never heard of dragons having too many ear problems though! Seems like a major weak point in the dragon's defenses :p

Cyrus is one nice looking dragon!

Yep! Unlike chameleons, these guys can hear pretty well. He has never had an issue with it. In fact, he's never had any medical issues. The first time he went into brumation I thought he was going to die since he didn't eat for weeks. He does it every winter, though, and he always snaps out of it in the spring. It's very strange, they are almost in a trance during brumation. they will open their eyes if you tap them, but they don't move much, and they don't eat, drink, or poop for a looooooong time.
