Winter is coming - food intake!

So being a country girl and having horses most of my life, we would feed them extra grain, hay, etc. I was just wondering if it's the same way with chameleons and beardies. Both my boys after 2-3 weeks of not wanting to eat daily decided that it was time to eat daily. Right now they are eating 3 crickets and 3 dubias each a day. Do I increase that amount or keep it about the same. Also I'm changing their schedule a little bit.

Also I need to keep Ringo in a tempory enclosure til we move. How long can he be in that tempory enclosure? I was thinking 2ftx2ftx2ft

You dont change the food if the "weather" doesnt change in the cages. You might want to try 5 days on 2 days off. Just give them enough that there is a few uneaten bugs in feeding session. Beardies should have greens 24/7

PS: if this is your first or 2nd year beardy, they go into a hibernation for 60-90 days around the time the clocks change (dam you texans with mountain time!). During that time they will eat once a week tops. Mine is just starting, he will go into his cork log and odds are wont be out till the new year.

If your veiled is full grown, he cant stay in that 2 by 2 for very long, id say a week or 2 tops, and keep an eye on the uv and basking light that he doesnt get too close. Its the height thats the problem. You can keep him forever (unless he is one of the huge ones) in a 2 by 2 if its 4ft high.

Actually I found the opposite to be true. With the temperature drop and shorter daylight hours I find chameleons tend to be less active and therefore less hungry during the fall and winter. Both will increase again early in the new year.

He won’t like smaller, temporary cage necessarily but it won’t hurt him short term. Just watch the temps and proximity of the light to your pet; you don’t want burns.

Oh Ringo's normal cage is 24inx30inx48in but I need something for him to travel in and possible be in til we find a place when we move. He's 10m/o now will be 11m/o when we move.

Freckles is 3y/o and the previous owner didn't say if he went into it last year.
