Larry JR my 7month old veiled ate his own...poop !! He climbed down his hibiscus walked around the river stones I have on top of the soil looked at a..turd and struck it...then ate it ! Now I guess this kinda reflects poorly on me since I left some poo in there...but I must had overlooked it when I cleaned his cage today. Anyhow should I be worried? Would there be something in the poo to cause any problems? Also...WHY? Why would he eat it? I know he might mistake it for a cricket but why keep chowing on it?

...sorry im rambling just a little worried

Look on the bright side, if he continues to do this, you'll never have to buy feeders again hahaha. Just kidding. My bet is that he thought it was a cricket

Greg, it doesn't reflect badly on you! He probably pooped AFTER you cleaned his cage. They DO poop a lot after all!

I second Nico, he probably thought it was a stationary cricket (and got it in him mouth and thought "this is the worst tasting cricket I've ever eaten!") :p

lol and do owners STILL let thier dog's lick thier face!:rolleyes:

hahah, yup! just like how i could get salmonella from my herps running around in their own feces and yet i still let my beardies and cham run all over my bed! :D

(very small chance though) :)

i found whenever dog eats its own poop, he/she is usually in extremely stressful situation caused by either the owner's fault (lack of nutrition, starvation, fear, etc) or another dog in the vicinity (the alpha dog as predator).

The chameleon, in this case, probably mistook it for some brown insects.
