where to find grasshoppers

No, but I catch a ton of grass hoppers every day. They aren't bigger than about 1.25" though. The big 2" ones haven't become adults yet. There are at least 10-15 per sq. meter where I look.

im about 100 miles from the red zone they show in southern california..its basically out in the desert area, where its like 90-100 degrees every day(i dont go where its death-hot..i cant stand high heat)..but some come around here still..you can hear them in the summers when its hot as hell..

I dont see as many hoppers this year down here as last yr. We've had the worst 7 mo drought in the last 50yrs though. Everythings suffering this yr! Had ducks coming up to the sprinkler to get a drink last week.

We are having a very wet year here in Ohio so the hoppers are fewer than normal:(

I think it's because it's exceptionally rainy this year. We are still having showers/rains now but it's extremely unusual. I live by a field, a protected vernal pool habitat, and creek so I see tons of wild bugs. The smaller hoppers are most abundant near the creek and practically turn into 0.5 per sq. meter as you come upon the dry field. Later in the summer the larger 2" hoppers hang around the field more than the creek. They make a crazy noise when they fly so they scare the poop out of me sometimes :)

I am having a very difficult time IDing these stupid hoppers!

I live about 15 miles from the orange :) And let me say they are way off... Out in Forney, TX where I'll be tomorrow I can step and grab 10... They are little but they are EVERYWHERE... If I go out to Lavon, TX where I used to live that's where the big boys are but they aren't as populated as they used to be
