When does your cham go to sleep

For those of you who have your chameleon near a window, does it go to sleep right after the sun goes down? I moved mine to a new location near a window about three weeks ago and he finds himself a dark location and is asleep by about 5:45 now even though his lights are still on. Used to go to sleep at six thirty when my timers kicked the lights off. I guess it's better for him to follow the natural sunrise and sunset. Just wondering. Thanks David

Howdy,

Mine are near windows and they seem to trigger off of the sunlight more than the lights. Since they see that things are shifting slowly to night, they get into their sleeping positions probably 15-30 minutes before the lights go out. The room is lit by two 48" regular tubes and each enclosure has their own UVB and basking lamps. The enclosure lighting turns off about 15 minutes before the room lights turn off. So right now its sunshine getting dimmer then enclosure then room. I run aprox. 6am to 6pm. The lighting process reverses in the morning.

yea my boy is next to the window as well he is normally in his same sleeping spot 20 mins before the sun sets. even when his lights are on.

night night

My 2 get ready for bed as the sun goes down and as soon as the lights go off they curl up and go right to sleep. They are real cute.

my guys are near a window also and yea they do follow the sun's pattern more than their lights. except Mango our sambava hes out within 5mins or less when his lights are turned off. its cute.

Another vote for the window scene. The lights mean nothing compared to the sun's action. Natural beats man made, yet again.

I keep my blinds closed... mostly because I have a gross baighbor I don't care to have looking into my apt. So since Sunlight doesn't really come into the room much they seem to follow the lights I have provided for them. My two boy veileds get 12 hours of light each day. The little guy Jake is in his sleeping spot about 30-60 minutes before lights out. My other boy sleep anywhere he is when the lights go out... I think he likes to mix it up.

same here like others.
he curled up ready to sleep 30 minutes be4 the lights off.
I put him next to window.

My cham doesn't sleep until I shut most of his lights down. He's pretty active so usually around 10 or 11pm he'll head off to one of his favorite spots. I think its his way of letting me know he's ready. He'll color shift and stay in one spot without moving for about 10mins. When I notice that, I shut the last light off and he's out.
