I am curious.. place a order online, pay via pay pal.. at what point does some things become a concern??

as pay pal only has a limited buyer protection.. just curious what communications or not are kind of standard?
heck may make a good sticky.. or more of a expand on what is already on the classifieds section..
Lets face it shipping temps are a concern... but heck if temps not ideal, is it standard procedure for the seller to contact the buyer and say so?? or not? at what point or heck when the seller does not communicate is this a real issue or a drag your feet till you cannot dispute the pay pal payement??

when you place a order.. does not the seller have the responsibility to contact the byer and say ok this is where we expect? or give a time to ship, and if that time comes then say opps soory not good temps?? seems like on the fauna classifieds that there is a whole lot of the buyer asking and begging for updates.. seems odd..

I am waiting too.. and have to keep asking .. I would say no way, but seems this is the norm for reptiles.. I rather a shipper wait.. then do just because but the lack of communication in the reptile trade seems shocking to me..

but is this normal??

thanks!

No where in the US right now should there be any shipping concerns if the person knows how to properly ship animals.

How long have you been waiting? Call the person and find out what the delay is.

yeh still no dice..

Sigh.. Not only did I get a oh we process orders Monday to ship Tuesday, this was after I paid for my order on a sat.. Then oh not till next Monday.. Nothing, again I e mailed.. hey when.. got the oh temps not good.. next week borderline.. I agree per his policies.. yet funny been getting reptiles in each week at work.. NO Issues.. and when I placed the order and was told the first time they process orders Monday line.. it was quite warm.. Then again this time the vendor e-mailed me last week how is Ship Monday for Tuesday.. oh perfect.. Monday comes Nothing.. Its been weeks..
Hey I have to make sure someone is home here, that involves taking time off something I mentioned.. not to be a pain, but I need to know a projected date at least..

I took a chance using a supplier with no specific bad reviews on fauna, I am guessing, that either he did not have, and took the order despite the add on kingsnake.. or just little old me who is trying to order a "low value" low dollar amount reptile is just not worth his time.. who knows.. FYI not a sponsor on here, or someone who used the classifieds here..

Having comments on the FB page about oh phone e-mail issues.. hum.. me thinks something is going on.. however has not sent me a e-mail saying so..

I guess I have to dispute the charge at this point.. patience is not working.. Its not that they have not shipped, but the lack of communication that has really done it, plus the second time oh we ship on Monday line

Sigh.. my goals to start a moderate trial at a captive breeding so far heck getting animals, a issue right off the bat.. sigh.. I hope this is not a indication of the whole idea.. Here I was thinking getting the animals would not be a issue, the dealing with WC, acclimation, and sadly possible losses where going to be the first big hurdle.. yeh.. not..

File a claim with paypal. If they go through with the shipment then the claim can be dropped with no consequence. However, if not you need to get it in under a certain deadline and do not delay. There is enough suspicion to warrant it. Even if it's a good seller then the paypal dispute notification will be a nice little reminder to get their crap together and hurry up.

Don't lose faith in humanity but always be a skeptic. ;)

I used to live in the same city as this person and have seen him in action, I have issues with his sense of what is moral. I'd file the claim with Paypal, keep pestering him with emails/calls, and see what happens.

But to answer your more general question, I don't think this is normal at all. I've never had an issue with anyone being dodgy with their communication, thankfully, and I think that most people would probably agree that their experiences are generally good. I usually buy an animal and have it shipped out within a few days, unless there's some other specific reason, and in that case the seller is usually emailing me about it. If you're unlucky and you happen to email a breeder the week of a huge reptile show or something, where they're busy crossing the country to vend at the show, then yes, they may take several days to get back to you. But in general I've found people to be pretty good about their customer service and communication.
