What kind of sick...

Okay, went to petco the other day and saw a fat orange cat. He was the only one in the entire cage, and I commented that he must be lonely.

Well the adoption guy came over and totally kills my joke.

He said, "Well, the others are black, and we don't adopt out black cats around this time of year because people (dramatic pause) do stuff to them"

My jaw dropped!! Like WTF?? I mean yeah, halloween, witches, spells etc, but REALLY?? I mean come on we are a "civilized" community, and people go out and skin cats/sacrifice them to whatever pagan god likes cat stew??

This is just sick... I mean, I hate cats, but I would never ever ever even think about doing things to them!

I mean I joke about making them "disappear" you know, like "oops, cat got out ;)" but people are SICK :'(

yes there are alot of weirdos out there who are in to satanism and witchcraft. I am glad they don't sell them if they have the potential to be abused. I had an old neighbor that was a "white witch" well that is what she called herself. I won't get into all the details but she was plain strange!

Yes, it's standard operating procedure for most outfits that do cat adoptions to put all the black cats on hold this month.

On a slightly less satanic note, they also usually stop adopting out bunnies around Easter to avoid over excited parents getting animals they have no intent to care for long term.

I'm glad too, I just hate to think of people hurting animals intentionally..

I had a satanist neighbor once. Then the SWaT team took him out...He was 9 kinds of crazy

I didn't know that, that is really smart. Good think nobody sells reindeer :p

Pretty sure it's a myth. I've been involved in the Pagan community for nearly 20 years as well as various occult groups and paranormal organisations. There is a lot of fear about this kind of thing, but very few verifiable accounts. Put it in the same category as other urban legends.

Ohh, I didn't mean to like offend you or anything, I just know that lots of gods from wayy back liked being sacrificed to and that there are some people who still try to do that kind of thing.

Some of it might be myth, but I live just outside of a college town, well more like in the boonies of a small town just outside of a college town, and either last year or the year before around halloween there were animal mutilations and black cats were among those mutilated.

It's not just around halloween though, is what I have found out, and it's disgusting that some people get their jollies out of killing innocent animals :( I'm not talking about like hunting and fishing either, just like going out and shooting a cat with a bb gun or bow and arrow (this happened last summer :( it barely missed the cats spine!!)

I just can't believe how sick the world is getting... Maybe I've just been sheltered until now, but it just seems....awful. :(
