Just wondering what else i can feed my Chameleon Cleo, besides crickets and horned worms ( These are only as a treat ) and Supers

Any veggies or Fruit that i can give her, that she might like ?

What about other bugs like Wax Worms Or Butter Worms ?

Thanks

Hi Cheeky,

Actually this topic is quite popular.
For some reason, I answered 3 thread of the same question within this week.
:D

Check this one out:

You might get the answer quicker :)
To answer your last question, I never fed mine wax worms. I used butter worms for a while.
They are nutritious as well. But, they are bit expensive and not a lot of chameleons grow to like their taste.
So far, none of my chameleons go wild when fed butter worms.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Dodolah,

I was actually scanning thru that today already... i just wanted to get more insite on the topic... LOL!

I have like a bunch of stuff in my fridge that i don't know if i could feed or not, Like Romaine or Spring Mix, Bok Choy, Carrots ??

Is there like a site that has a list of stuff that i can go out and buy for her to eat.. between fruits and stuff ?

For veggies (provided that your veiled like them -mine refused them all the times-), i recommend Kale, Dandelion leaves, strawberry slices, apple slices, mustard green, and collard green.

I avoid spinach, broccoli, and tomato as they contain calcium oxalate.

Cheeky, although veileds are known to accept fruits or vegatables, they are by no means a staple food source. Excluding the occasional nibble on a ficus leaf in their cages, neither of my veilds have ever shown interest in anything other then insects. If you want your chameleon to benefit from the vitimins that fresh vegatables have to offer, I suggest that you come up with a good gut-load for your feeders. Mustard greens, boc choi, and collards are good. Think of them like stubborn childern- you really have to trick them into eating their fruits and vegatables. :p There are some great gut-load recipes out there. I would suggest adcham.com. Gut-loaded crickets are a good staple and my chameleons love hornworms, so you seem to be on the right track. As for waxworms, I primarily feed these no more then once every 3 weeks- they are tasty and great for hydrating smaller chameleons, but they don't have the greatest nutritional index. If you are looking for new feeders, I would suggest either culturing dubia roaches or buying some silkworms. My silkworm eggs from last season just hatched yesterday, so I am super excited!:p Good luck to you and your chameleon.

Thanks Cala,

I will look into getting some good gut-load for my crickets and i have some Hissing cockroaches around here too! but i think they might be a little too big for her right now! I just read on here that some people like giving fruit to their Chameleons, So i figured i'd give it a shot! LOL See if she'll eat any

yummy

george my mvchem loves razzberries and blue berries he will go rite past raz 2 get 2 blues the eventually eat the razz he also likes dandilion, rose pettels, and small night crawlers

Are Hissing Cockroaches Ok For her ??? i have a bunch that i need to get rid of ... so i was thinking of feeding them to her as a treat

One of mine adores strawberries. When I get them I give her a few little pieces and she always can pick them out of her salad. I give my ladies kale and romaine. My male doesn't eat veggies. I put a small dish of romaine in the cages today and 2 of them ate it all while the 3rd ate about half.

I gut load my crickets with oranges and green leafy things. I don't use spinach at all or head lettuce. There is nothing in the head lettuce vitamin wise and I think spinach was addressed earlier.
