Im picking up my baby veiled (3 months old or so)soon and i was wondering if this daily feeding plan will be ok.

4-6 dusted/gut loaded 1/8" crickets and 2-3 small (up to 1/2") silk worms

then everyonce in a while maybe go with pheonix or HW once hes big enough to eat them.

does the cricket/silk worm variety sound ok as a "staple"
roaches are out of the question, the girlfriend would never ever come over if she new i was keeping roaches somewhere

Hi SS4Luck,

personaly, for a male, that sounds too little to me.
even a femal that you should feed a drop less then a male, your amounts might be a drop too small.

I did 8-12 crickets per day up untill about the last month or so. my guy is 8 months old now.

silkies are great feeders and can be substituted almost 1 to 1 with crickets depending on size.

phoenix worms will be perfect right now for him to feed every other day or 3.
try 3 in the morning, then 3 in the early evening so there are not too many in the feeding cup at one time.

hornworms are also great. just beg the suplyer to give you only ultra small ones and most will be small enough to feed when you get them.
put them in the fridge every other day to slow down their growth.
sadly they grow faster then anything else you'll buy and you will toss out a few because they will grow too big.
feed one hornworm in the morning and then 4 or 5 crickets in the early evening is a good mix.

remember that gutloding crickets is far more important then dusting and needs to be done with quality greens and food that has moisture.

Ok.

I know how important the gutloading is. I plan on cricket crack, oranges and kale for most of the time just because its what i have readily on hand because of my orange tree and me greends for my iguanas.

thanks for the input

1/8" crickets are REALLY small.
at 3 months you should have no problem with 1/4" crickets.
If it's a big male you could even have him on 1/2" crickets already.

alrite ill look into it. Im picking him up from a member on here so ill know when i get him and decide then :D
