Well, I'm finally going mistking

So, after about a year and a half, my exo terra monsoon's timer finally went wonky on me yesterday, so I've ordered the mistking starter kit. Any tips from current owners with setup? Also, the mistking and exoterra use the same tubing, can I use my (now extra) exo terra tubing as extension parts if I decide to rig up my geckos too?

You will love the simplicity of the mist king system. The timer seemed a little confusing to me, but didn't take long to figure out. I'm not sure about the tubing, or gecko care, but misting your chameleon is multiple times a day for minutes at a time, so I'm not sure how the gecko would like that?

That's my conundrum. I'm thinking of maybe trying to figure out a way to piggyback a second timer. Or maybe they have some kind of shut off valve attachment. The main issue is that the geckos need dry in the day and moist at night and the cham is the opposite. I might just have to suck it up and save up for a second system!

The tubing is standard 1/4" tubing that is used on landscape irrigation systems: Rainbird, Raindrip and Orbit, so they should all be pretty much interchangeable. I shopped these brands on Amazon and you can get 100 feet of tubing for around $7. There are several different types of connectors for those brands also which are MUCH cheaper than the others, especially Monsoon's Y connectors. Just to be safe I also secured the tubing onto the connectors using the smallest size zip ties and have never had a leak or disconnect.
I went from a Monsoon to an Aquazamp and I love it. The mist that comes out is so fine and the water drainages is so much less which tells me that most of the water is staying in the environment which is the whole point! My Veiled still runs away from the mist but the Panther will actually go into it on occasion. I have also noticed less of the "wet dirt" smell that my planted cage was having, so I think the soil is actually drying out some despite the fact the mister comes on 8 times a day! I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the raindome attachment.

You can set the timer for whatever you want, so it shouldn't be a problem. It's a 24 hour clock on it. Once I got the hang of it, it was easy to set, and change according to the seasons. It's pretty dry here now, so Imhave changed the timer to go 5 mins at 8 in the morning, then 3 at 11, 3 at 2 p.m and 5 at 4 p.m. So, you would just start yours later on I assume.
I doubt if the tubing will fit, but you can always e-mail Marty at MistKing. I'm sure he's been asked stranger things!

I might be hitting up the White Plains expo next weekend (which is a little nuts, because I JUST went to the LI one last week) and Mistking usually has a booth there. I might stop and ask them all my questions. I'm sure they've had people do weird mods before.

I wonder if you could use the same system for both, if you used a shut off on each line leading to the cages? You'd have to remember to turn them on and off, though.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble. The automation is the good part about the systems. I'll see if I can figure something out.
