Warning of a petco bulb

Warning of a PETSMART BULB NOT petco bulb

I am passing this on per request of a member of the tortoise forum I belong too. This bulb [All Living Things Neodymium Basking bulb 100 watts.] Purchased only at Petsmart, blew up twice, in a short period of time.
The first time it blew up all over the tortoise enclosure and down onto the floor of the room. The second time, it blew and separated from the metal screw in base part of the bulb.
If you are using this bulb, please take caution. If you are not using this bulb, please don't start.

Thanks for the heads-up! I do not use these, but it is always good to know. Especially with regular misting, these would probably be even more prone to problems!

Yeah same here. I do not use bulbs from petco or petsmart anymore. I just use regular house bulbs and also order UVB tubes.

I bought 2 All Living Things infrared bulbs because they were cheap and at the time I was using a smaller cage and didn't need a high watt bulb. What a mistake. Both lasted two nights before burning out, but luckily they didn't explode like you describe. Taken together, it might be best to avoid this brand altogether...

Glad no one got hurt. Cheap usually means no good. Same as the cheaper coil type UVB bulbs. They have not been fixed. Still causing lots of eye problems with tortoises. If they were actually fixed, they haven't hit most shelves yet.
