This for the tech savvy cham keepers.. I'm interested in installing a camera in my cham's cage, mainly my female to monitor the egg laying, or lack there of... what do some of you have set up? Ie brand, approx cost, difficulty etc. Feel free to post pics, I love picture references lol

I've been working on using a raspberry pi with an xbox live camera installed using motion.

Im also using it to control 4 relays for powering lights, and such.
it also has temp and humidity monitoring and logging.
I found a great website http://www.raspiviv.com
Its not exactly setup for a single enclosure, there will be issues if using it exactly as designed, and not using all temps sensors.

i've modified some of the pages to do things like logging temp in f instead of c.
to display the webcam in a "pre-designed" web page....
the raspberry pi 2, its powerful enough, but there almost isnt enough bandwidth.

In all, i have
29.99 = raspberry pi 2 model b
free.99 = xbox live cam
4.00 = 4 relay module
6.00 = 3 dht22 temp humidity sensors
12.00 = wifi dongle
15.00 = various other stuff's

im working on adding a touch screen display or a 16 x 2 segmented display for temp and humidity live display.....

but all that is overkill for just live webcam.....:-"

Hey happy, have you made any mods to the raspviv setup? I'm in the process of setting up a raspviv controller and was wondering if you had any advice.

I have added a 16x2 lcd to the raspiv... if you check the Raspiviv forums, under mods, you will see the 16x2 i2c current temp and humidity thread... after doing it... its not very bad....
if you try it... and need help, id be happy to assist.
im working on adding an easy setup type menu from the GUI... instead of directly having to edit the php files, you should be able to set all the sensors, temperatures, times from a single page....
im not a coder, so i have to learn about what im doing before i do it... then i try.. and i figure there has to be a better way.... its not exactly what i want....

EBay have a good selection of small pan and tilt colour and IR cameras, wireless and viewable/controllable from.portable devices. Over here in the UK they run about £25, search for" IE Geek "on ebay, I have one of their bigger outdoor ones Installed overlooking my garden and I'm very impressed
