Twice i had fecal samples done, $18.50 each at my vet, they found nothing, thats all ive had to do but i picked a really nice cham out of a litter of them, and i am a freak on care. ive had her for almost a year now.

Everyones needs for a vet will be different....

Fecal tests annually for most of them (under $50 per test). A general check up about twice per chameleon (at around one year, and a few years later). Check-up cost Ranges from $100 -$800, depending on how many chameleons I bring in and what tests (blood work for example) might be run. All other visits are only "as required" due to some issue I am unable to resolve for myself. Cost of those visits is scary and varied.

My vet (the world famous chameleon vet) Dr. Alfonso, recommends a check up for all new chameleons and then well checks every 6 months. He does a fecal at every visit. I always take my two together because it's a two hour drive and I also buy gutload and vitamins, that he makes, while I'm there. It runs anywhere from $85.00 to $135.00 depending on other meds that I might get. My guys have had parasites before.

Now that my guy's getting on in years (just turned four), I go annually or as needed. It was a little over $200 last time (office visit + blood work + a liquid oral calcium supplement).
I don't know what the standard is for "what to get checked"; my vet always looks him over well, looks inside the mouth, sees how the grip is, palpitates the side to feel the kidneys. The blood work looks for kidney and liver function by evaluating calcium and phosphorus levels, also looks at cholesterol (apparently chams across the board have sky high cholesterol and it's nothing to worry about), and can help evaluate hydration.

how fortunate you are to live within driving distance of a cham vet you can actually have confidence in, i dont have much confidence in cham vets, any of the ones i have seen have never told me anything, i couldnt deduce from common sense and a little cham knowledge, and when it comes to fecals im not sure, most them know what they are doing

anyone know any good vets in the los angeles area?

The last time I went to the one vet I used it was for a checkup, bloodwork, and he ended up giving me baytril to give to the cham. The bill was $420.
