My Veiled Cham Lola is 8 months old. Up until a few days ago she has always been a lovely bright green with occasional darker stripes. Then, a few days ago, she started displaying partial green with brownish color as well. She seems pretty normal as far as alertness and eating, but the color hasn't waivered. Does anyone know why this is?

Well there are a couple things you can change in the cage get a reptisun 5.0 uvb fluorescent light. Get a 40watt house bulb for heat and to bask. Also you want to dust the crickets almost every feeding with calcium WITHOUT d3. Dust twice a month WITH D3 and MULTIVITAMIN. Giving your cham to much D3 can be harmful.

My cham had some simular markings I was told it was do to the coil bulb I was using for my UVB light. Please post some pictures this will be helpful.

When they get old enough to breed they get mustardy colored blotches on them and when they are receptive they also get torquoise/blue dots. Is this what you are describing? Pictures would help.

Do you have a place for her to dig in the cage in case she needs to lay eggs?

Also...
Unless your house goes below 65F at night you don't need a heat source. What brand and type (compact, spiral, etc.) is your UVB?

The plants should all be non-toxic and well-washed (both sides of the leaves).

It generally recommended to dust with a phos.-free calcium powder at most feedings, an appropriate vitamin powder twice a month and a phos.-free calcium/D3 powder. For good bone health, the calcium, phos., D3 and vitamin A need to be in balance. Attaining the balance involves looking at the supplements, gutloading, etc.

You said you use a constant moving water from fountain...fountains are hard to keep clean/germ free and are not usually recommended.

Your basking lamp seems a bit high in wattage.... I would step it down. You can use a normal household lamp. I would use a 50-60w. UVB should be a linear tube. a Zoo Med Reptisun 5.0 is a perfect lamp. Place it right on top of the cage. If the fixture has plastic over the lamp, remove it. As for heat at night... not needed unless, like Linda said, it gets cooler than 65 or even 55. As long as your cham has a chance to warm up in the morning (basking lamp) she will be just fine.

Thank you everyone!

Your advice was wonderful. I have Calcium with Phos and was told I shouldn't be using it by a breeder so I just stopped using it earlier this week. Perhaps the change could be the problem, so this morning I redusted with the Phos Calcium. I also changed the bulb to a Repti-Sun coil UVB 5.0 that I already had and will purchase a long UVB 5.0 today. I really appreciate everyone's imput.

I don't think she is gravid but I'll make a egg laying box anyway just in case! : )

You want Phos free calcium powder. One reason we dust with calcium is to help level out the ratio of calcium to phosphorus. Crickets have a higher ratio of phos to calcium than what is healthy. More phos than calcium in a diet causes a number of health issues.

Thanks you! Fortunately, I have the whole spectrum of calcium supplements, so I have calcium by itself as well.

Also, my Lola seems to be back to normal so thank you!
