In planning on getting a baby vailed chameleon tomorrow. My only concern is that he is super young he only about an inch. I have a four foot cage for him that i will be dividing i have some live plants (pothos) house bulb basking light and retisun 5.0 uv light a misting pump spray bottle lots of climbimg branches and everything is all set up and I've done TONS of reserch! My only concern is that he might be too small and there would be a bigger chance of him dieing. Is channeleon that small really harder to keep? Should i wait till he grows a couple more inches? Or would it even make a difference?

It is better to have young chameleons housed in a smaller cage because it is much easier to monitor food, fecal and just their general well being. If you can't get a smaller cage for a few months I would put some large fluffy towels at the bottom (change them every few days) just in case he does fall.

The biggest thing is to make sure he has access to food and water, it can be hard for them to find it in a big cage.
