Update on panther with the bum eye !

this is my cham Achillies that had the eye problem last week. i an still giving terrimycian (sp) to his eye it looks really good but he still keeps it closed a little. he does open it to look around and eat but when sitting its closed. im still confused as to why but over all hes doing great, and has never lost his appatite or will. hes is acutally calm and dosent fight me when putting the terrimycian in his eye. i dint think he likes it but i beleive he knows im trying to help him. also his nose never developed like other panthers. any suggestions ?

Jeremy,

How is he doing now? Is he still closing his eyes? If he is then it is time to bring him to the vets. I recently had 2 males with eye problems and of course i used terramycin to begin with and when that didn't work i brought them both to the vets. They both had different issues that needed other medicing and he said the terramycin wouldn't have helped. Also my male veiled that had an eye problem just passed away yesterday and i have to attribute it to the eye infection because everything else was ok. He had been battling the eye issue for over a month. So don't wait to much longer if he is still having the problem. And by the way, my hubby and i both think your cham looks cool with his nose. Very different, but a handsome little devil. Take good care of him.

Debby

Never seen anything like that nose on a panther. I'm wondering if he has some infection in that area....especially since his lip is sticking out a bit. Perhaps the nose was injured at one point?

i bought him at 4 months old and his nose has never developed like other panthers. he does still close his eye ( only his right eye ) and cleans it often but when he opens it it looks good and is very clear and has no goo in it. i will probably take him in also when i take my veild in on monday for hs calcium shot and see if i can get a stronger antibiotic. his lip is fine he does the elvis thing sometimes actually if you look at the other pic it is fine

I still think there is a thickening to the lip where it sticks out. It almost looks like scar tissue on the end of its nose too. I'm not a vet though...so its just my opinion.

well i took my panther achilles to the vet today at the same time i took my other cham in. i had been using terrimican (sp) to try and overcome an eye issue hes had for a week or so. the terrimican really didnt do alot of good, so the vet gave me a perscription of Tobramycian. in one application it really seems to have worked much better. i will apply it for ten days 2 times a day and hopefully this will fix the issue. ill update soon.
