Hey guys! I'm new to chameleons (i do own other reptiles) but I'm getting one in a month so sorting all his viv etc now and I've done so much research! but my question is the vivarium.. now I've heard we (UK folk) are best to keep them in well vented wooden vivariums as we don't have the heat.. is this true? xD cause obviously i want my little guy to have the best and i will dig deep in my pocket for him :D. i have already got a wooden viv that i can modify i build my snakes vivariums.. and also his UVB i was going to get the Arcadia 6 and 12% HO tube T5's w/ fixtures. but that would mean placing it inside the wooden vivarium. just a few little bits that i think have rattled my Brain since all the research LOL :)

darrena [user name] from the UK was looking for a chameleon seller. Maybe shoot her a PM and let them know where you got yours.

I got mine from an awesome guy name loz hes been breeding 25y down in brighton. chameleon and geckos for sale.

I have a exoterra med xtall (glass) but found it was getting a bit small so hand built a mesh box to put on top making it half as tall again, ive found in the summer it dose get quite warm and needed a thermostat on my light but brilliant in the winter, mine is a living vivarium so the damp earth keeps it cooler at the bottom and lights warm up the top. My guy love it he also hast a 5ft ficus by the window that he love to sit on.

Word of warning they are expensive to keep the more you love them the more you spend! My guys 8m eating me out of house and home! Lol

where in the uk are you guys from?? Im near south London :)

I'm in what most of you would say the colder and wetter north west! My panther is in XL reptibreeze, all mesh. He does just fine with his lights etc. I'm also in a small cottage that doesn't have central heating, just a wood burning fire.
I got him in November last year, so as a baby did well.

ah thats cool! mines still only 4weeks old xD still w/ the breeder but i brought him a wooden vivarium.. the guy who had it before me said his panther lived a long bright and happy life in it.. there is extra vents modded into it. but I'm going to give it a try :) and if the little guy isn't happy ill switch out! i was thinking of doing live plants aswell but its finding ones that have grown the right size lol i oh i know how expensive they are! LOL just want the little guy to be happy and healthy :D

and I'm in west sussex :) in-between portsmouth and brighton :)
