I was just handleling my 4 month old veiled chameleon and he was crawling up my arm and he took a fall about a foot and a half to a tile floor, i reached down and put my hand infront of him to pick him up and he climbed on up after short hesitation and was on his way up my arm. i put him emidiatly back into his encloser and he climbed right on in. he seems fine but im still worried.

Chameleons are meant to be able to take a fall, though a tile floor is rather hard. Keep an eye on him.

all is well, just keep an eye on him and his excrement.

there is a reason they recomend cages no higher than 20in for babys, so they are less likey to get hurt when they fall... they have to learn sometime

mine (female yemen) fell a few inches once and she instantly flipped back over and hesitated for a min to get her berings, but she is fine

thanksguys, he seems okay. but i came home today and noticed him on the bottom of his cage and i watched him for a bit and he started scratching at the glass .. does this mean i need a bigger cage ?, i have him in a 18" cube right now

I wouldn`t worry too much, but keeping your eye on him just in case won`t hurt. Gizzy fell about 4 feet from her vine a few weeks ago and amazingly enough she was fine aside of a tiny scratch near her eye. It is awful when they fall and you feel bad about it, but i`m sure he`ll be fine.

actuallty the cage is only a portion glass, its like .. 75% vented metal with glass sliding doors, around the bottom is glass about 3 inches high, i guess for like .. matter or water i guess. but my new cage is gonna be all screen
