Hey guys I think I got a prob. My cham laid 45 eggs vield btw and we changed her cage bk about a week an half ago.. this morning she laid 6 eggs and bout 20 minutes ago she laid 2 more not even digging just from her tree.. we had a scare when she was digging my grandma touched her but she laid.45 that night so what could be the problem???

When a female egglaying chameleon reaches sexual maturity there should be an egglaying bin in her cage at all times so she has a place to dig in case she needs to lay eggs and so that the owner doesn't have to look for the signs of her needing to lay eggs.

When a chameleon is producing eggs and is near laying them she needs to be left alone...not watched....not played with...not touched...especially when she is digging or in the hole. I think you removed the cover you put around the cage too?

It's a shame people don't always know his before it happens so all we can do now is go from there.

If she doesn't get all the eggs out its quite likely that she will become eggbound she isn't already and die. If she shows any signs of going down hill at this point she needs to see a vet....it might even be a good idea now but I hate to have you disturb her again to take her if she could get through this on her own. You're in a catch 22 situation.

Also, it concerns me that she could have trouble the next time now too.

One more thing....that's quite a large clutch. You may want to slow her down on the next clutch's.

We already did all that went thru the process tho she did fine shes active she comes to the front of her cage wants our attention.. my cham laid the eggs not in a laying bin cuz we already did that and she laid 45 shes just laying more eggs now since we changed the cage bk.. can we stop this?

She should have laid ALL the eggs in the hole at the same time and filled the hole in and been done with it. It's usually bad news if this didn't happen...or did you disturb her while she was in the hole laying them??

You could try putting the laying bin back in but I don't know if she'd use it now. It's important she get all of the eggs out that are inside her now so you don't want to stop her.

In a previous post I told you that I just swap laying bins instead of just taking out the one she laid the eggs in. This is so there is always a place in the cage for her to lay eggs in.

She was disturbed by my grandmother the day of her digging and her butt wasnt in the whole when she was touched. She laid 45 that night and she barely started to let a few more out yesterday...

She needs to be left alone. completely, utterly, 100%.

put the lay bin back in her cage and let her be.

if she doesn't finish laying, then she could become egg bound, which can kill her.

why did your grandmother disturb her? or touch her for that matter?

also, you should try reducing her basking temps to around 85 max, and only feed her every other day, about 4-6 bugs.

this will help reduce the clutch size.

one other thing- chams don't ask to come out. they are not friendly hold me all the time creatures.

she was more than likely just sitting by the door watching things.

and my grandmother touch her because she didn't know any better I wasn't in town and left specific instructions which she just didn't follow

here is my cham after she laid a couple more eggs but she did not dig she laid them on top of soil..does she look egg bound? We've tried stopping the clutches so been feeding every other day

As I told you before...she should have laid them all at once. Signs of eggs binding are not always clear until it's almost too late. Lethargy, sitting low in the cage, not eating, eyes shut during the day are the signs bh that time.

How much do you feed her in a week?
What supplements have you been using and how often for each?
What do you feed/gutload the insects with? Is she getting UVB that does not pass through glass?
Did you put the egglaying container back in?

My cham isnt doing of that she is climing an laying eggs from her sticks dude our light is in the cage an no we havent put the laying bin back cuz she dont like it!! Her basking light never goes above 85 now fed every 2 days
