Temps for Dubia Breeding

Hello, I have started a small colony of Dubia roaches and I have noticed several small 1/8" babies, but my question is around the temps. I have a temp gauge/hygrometer with a probe in the tub I keep them in and the temps I'm getting are in the high 70s to low 80s with humidity in the 40-50s? I have a zoo med uth 50-60 gallon heater on underneath them and I touch the bottom of the tub and it feel significantly hotter than what my gauge shows! Should I be worried or since I'm seeing babies should I take it as good enough?

i keep my temp at 90 and they are breeding like crazy gust make sure they have a lot to drink and eat. 90 about 3in from the bottem of the tub.

hope this helps

Yeah, I will see what I can do about bumping up the temps. I have another heating pad and I want to try that and see how it goes

I put one on the bottem to dry out the poop and one on the back or side and it works for me. make sure you put them on the same side so if they want to cool down they just go to the other side were its like 80. Also I only screened half of my top and the hot side is not screened and the little cooler side is screened.

Mine breed without anything! I swear I took the uth off my tub last year. They are still breeding. I wont feed dubias in the house anymore where I live. I put some in a sunning cage to see if they could survive our Texas winter. They lived without food or water from Dec- Feb when I finally removed the few that made it. I tried it with about 10 & 4 of them lived. I only feed dubia when my chams are outside from now on.

well i heard an seen dubia males so called hover and i might have to arguee the fact, an that they can actully half fly lol whats half fly you say well let me tell you a true story which happened no more the 5 mins ago.. Im on the computer in my living room an i hear then see this big bug about 3 feet off the ground fly from one end of the room to the other then kinda crashed landed. i thought maybe it was a mouth or what not due to my windows being open cause its a nice night out an hot as hell in my apt. To my suprise it was a full grown dubia male. which i then caught an fed to my beardies as a late night snack haha. granted he may have climed something to get 3 feet off the ground an then glided across the room but he managed to get out of my bin which i accidently forgot to put the lid on. Guess i need to get a deeper bin... just a quick story intended to inform people to get a deep bin lol!!!! I still think dubias are great feeders just my mistake made it a creepy night.

Mine seem to be doing really well in the 85-90 range. Definitely seeing some little ones now! Mine do like oranges, but they really, really love potatoes and sweet potatoes! They will destroy 3-4 slices every 2-3 days! I have about 200 in a bin.

Make sure to offer other fresh veggies, potatoes aren't very nutritious. I use a good dry roach food, plus fresh veggies (mostly collared greens and carrots, also offer apple and orange slices if I have the laying around).

aside from freshly sliced fruits like apples and oranges, do you ever use or recommend those fruits in jars that sell in supermarkets, which are in some sort of sweet juice/water or syrup? is that too much sugar for the feeder which can then transfer to your cham?
