Hi what can i do more about my Chameleon eyes being sunken? He drinks water everyday. I even see him drink water. He eats every day too. What can i do with his eyes sunken in. Am i going to have to wait for weeks and months for this change or do i need to use more calicum then vitamins? Thanks

Mist the animal if nessesary, be sure its actually drinking, install a dripper near a regular resting/basking place if you dont have already.
Is it toileting? whats it look like?
Another thing you can do to help is to gutload his insects 24hrs prior to feeding with fresh greens (moisture) comes from food aswell.

i mist 3-5 times a day. I spray his entire cage branchs, trees, and plants, its a sprat mister water bottle. And yes it goes the bathroom. Brown & yellow mix with white. I was going to take a pix of his toileting issues today but didn't think it will be appropriate to share to every one online.

seriously, its ok. There shouldnt be too much yellow though, the white part should be mostly white. Yellow/orange urates (white part) indicates its not drinking enough or not getting enough moisture from food.

Keep aside its daily insects in a separate tub and toss in some moist gutload, aka fresh greens, fruit etc. A dripper is really a good idea too, and the longer it drips before it runs out the better (more opportunity to drink)


Can you take a pic when the lizard is calm, prefrably along its body, (from behind) facing the head so you can see how much the eyes actually stick out.

What if its half and half yellow and white a tiny bit more yellow? Yes i keep all of his feeders in seperate tubs. What kind of greens should i feed the crickets. Right now they are eating carrots and oats, Fruit is strawberries, peach, mango. If i do the dripper which i do how do i control it from not over flowing from my cage? Sorry next time when he does his buisness i will differently show u lol

Any fruits like that are great, melon is good too, greens like buk choy etc (asian greens) are great, watercress etc etc, just avoid spinache.

A dripper can be made from any bottle/jar/container, some aquarium tubing and a valve like this



somewhere between the container and the drinking end will control the drip rate.
You do need some kind of drainage plan, most folk who use screen cages, simply stick a tub/bucket/tray underneath to catch water.

I dont know what kind of cage you have but if the bottom is not screen, you can devise a safe water catcher, by using a tub with a lid. You cut most of the inner lid out, leaving the rim all around, then place some flyscreen over the tub, under the lid.
This way insects and your cham cant get in and drown.

So you place this under where the drips fall on the floor of the cage and empty as needed.

Definately not getting quite enough water/moisture, the dripper will help, make sure its easily accessed from your lizards favorite perch. Re the gutloading, I meant take out the following days insects the night before and gutload separately, so they are eating moist food right up untill you give to the lizard.

Will this drippler i have work?

I use this but i don't have it on all day. I only turn it on when i see him moving his mouth when he's thirsty or leaving it run for an hour. Andthe moisture comes from the feeders right? 3 hours ago i just goadload the crickets with oats , fish flakes and carrotes. Whens hould the next time i gut load them? Before i feed my cham?

Yes itll work, best to try and keep it running as much as possible. I had one of those 'Big dripper' but I found it simply didnt hold enough water, I now use a ten litre plastic container. I turn it on when his lights come on in the morning, and it runs till the lights switch off at night, last about 3 days before needing a refill.
My cham drinks at odd hours sometimes and cant always be there to watch him.
He has developed a handy habit of having a big drink every morning a few minutes after lights on, but I still make sure he can drink whenever hes awake (all day).



Its probably easier to continually gutload your main cricket tub,(provide fresh gutload all the time) but you want to be sure that they have just eaten before your feed them off. They eat constantly, but they poo constantly also
Mango slices, melon etc contain lots of moisture, better than carrots alone. Greens should be a main staple gutload along with the dry stuff.

Hmmm okay i'lll try that drippler tomorrow all day. I'm just going to have to find a bucket or something for the water to drip in. I wanted to know if crickets will eat grapes? My cham is the way he is cause we got him from a swatmeet and was caging with all kinds of reptiles. I know those kind of people don't give them a proper care. I don't even know how old he is cuz they told us he was 9 months old. To me he is to small for 9 months old. I have had my cham for 4 months. When i first had him i did not know what to do with him. I did not know what to feed him. But thank god for this chameleonforum helps me out and alot of new chamlovers I'm starting to learn more and more about my reptile, thanks to all the caring and thoughful people on here. When i first got milo he was mean and always hissing he never wanted to eat or drink water. Until 2 months later he starting to get use to me with showing me his colors eating and drinking. It was really bad when i first had him he will never want to eat like a month later then that he use to eat right off of my hand 15 crickets then he cut down to 5-6 crickets a day. Maybe cuz he is getting older. His very first worm was a mealworm 2 months ago. He just barely getting us to me and proabably grew up with a bad home. But glad i adopt him and took him home. Ever since i got milo i want more chameleon from the swatmeet and take care of them cause i know those people don't take care care of them right. It's sad but true.
