Starting set-up for Pygmy's - question

Hello, new to the forum and have a question regarding a set-up for pygmy's. These will be my first, so I want to get it right. I have read conflicting advice for a cage type. Most chameleons need the open air cages, but I have also seen/read both here on the forum and else where that a glass aquarium works well for the pygmys. The air in our house is rather dry in the winter, so I wonder if the glass in this case is better for humidity control? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi Karen. :) I keep my pygmies in planted terrariums (Exo terra and zoo med). Screen cages are more for panthers, jacksons, veileds and chameleons like that.
I put a 2 inch layer of hydroton balls on the bottom, covered with fiberglass screen or weed barrier (keeps the drainage and planting layer separate) followed by a soil mix topped by leaf litter. For my soil I mix peat and topsoil. I have different plants in my vivariums, tillandsias, mosses, umbrella plants, pothos, ferns, mini orchids, baby tears and a few that I can't remember the names. ;) I also have a bunch of twiggy branches for them to climb on. For lighting I use some compact fluorescents, led fixtures and for uvb I use a used 5.0 cfl reptisun bulbs. Some sites say they don't need the uvb, but I think a little bit can't hurt and most likely helps. :)
