Some of the young’uns playing on plumeria

Dr O

Veterinarian
had some of the gang out just before the Repticon show, and they were having a blast just crawling all around a winter plumeria—

Omgsh they look amazing!! The second pick cracked me up for some reason lol he looks cross eyed. They look so friendly to one another :) man- your chams are brilliant Dr O!!!

thank you all! they’re hitting 6 months and i called these 4 the Schwarzenegger's of the bunch since they colored and grew so quickly. and they really do get along well, very mild-mannered studs.

That's so neat looking, they all the like little clones except for the different colored bars. They're so colorful! Pixel really knows how to make 'em.

it’s really true with this bunch. but to my surprise the ones coming up 2 months behind these so far seem to have a fairly different look than this initial group. i also notice that for now they seem to have more of the “pebbled” look than the others did at that age. those four are just exceptionally smooth. don’t get me wrong, i like smooth/pebbled/wrinkly/craquelure or any combo thereof, but it’s really been fun seeing the differences.

i am realizing the irony of trying to convince anyone of their exceptional smoothness after i looked back at the photos which are in extra-fine detail due to the harsh sun and a polarizing filter.

logging off now….

Really good looking younglings Doc, hopefully you'll attract the kind of buyer who can also appreciate irony.......:D

You have such killer chams, they really are amazingly colorful. If you have any left I hope to see them when I am down in Aug. But your pictures make it look like the chams are right there in front of you.:)

I have never seen such a gaggle of colorful chameleons! Beautiful pictures :D

By the way, what is the term for a group of chameleons? I nominate gaggle.

Not trying to be a sour puss, more inquisitive.... is it a bad idea to keep males together that long? In my experience its pretty risky to have them together beyond 4 months even if they are just basking. Ive had brothers suddenly see something and nip a siblings tail. I've also had them try to steel crickets out of each others mouth. That dudn't turn out well.

Is your success due to an extra large enclosure?

not bad. additionally, wikipedia has this re: gaggle:
In military slang, a gaggle is an unorganized group doing nothing. In aviation, it is a large, loosely organized tactical formation of aircraft.

so i can see that applying as well. however, it did mention that a gaggle of geese is usually considered 5 or more.

so i’ll just have to add more young ‘uns to the photographs!

i absolutely agree in general, but i’m completely going by personalities. the one that i decided to keep early on was already blazing, and he was head bobbing at everything at 4 months and staying fired. so he went to his own digs. these others (three now in one cage, one leaving tonight so it will be two) are beyond super mellow and friendly. but what made the difference for me was whenever i had them out playing in the xmas tree or on some other jungle gym, they always eventually wound up together and usually even huddle when they sleep. no gaping at all when climbing over each other. and it’s not competition for the best spot as there are many great spots as their cages are designed.

i know it’s against protocol, but i haven’t had a single nip tail or toe yet through 3 clutches born thus far. i don’t recommend this, but this is just me taking my breeder and veterinary discretion to make an informed decision that they seem to be very happy with. but in general and on paper, i agree with you.

Hey Kevin,
I don't know what your saying here, but that is exactly how they look in person!
