sleeping in free range

this is probably already a thread so sorry if this becomes clutter, but for you guys who do free range set ups do you let your cham sleep in free range? My guy has gown very fond of his spider plant he free ranges in and wants to sleep there every night. I am just worried I am going to wake up in the morning and find him on the floor or just not find him at all any experience with this?

Naturally the chameleon is going to wake alot earlier then you will and if you are worrying about the chameleon DONT RISK IT! stick him in his cage before he roosts to sleep if he is already sleeping turn on the lights and he will wake up, dont try and pry him off his vine while he is asleep you will probably kill him.
If he is already asleep and just dont want to disturb him close all doors make sure there is no animals in the area and let him sleep; set your alarm clock to like 5 and wait an hour or so until he wakes up(in my case my chameleons always wake up around 5:30-6ish) and then move him back

I let Samson sleep in his free range all the time. It's his choice. 50/50 its on the pothos outside/inside the cage. I have good lighting within my free range so I'm not too worried about what he does before I wake up out there, he usually is basking under the lights. All the wires and such are out of the way where he can't get at them without jumping and I just mist him once I wake up.

my free range panther defiantly understands the concept of the cage and always sleeps outside in the same area. In the morning I wake up to find him headed to the warm spot under the lamps. If there are no other animals in the room then you can "chameleon proof" the room and close the door. When i firs t got rocko he would climb down off his free range to explore the room but now that he knows the layout he stays put.

thanks for sharing guys. I ended up letting him sleep up there but he is so pissy when ever i need to put him back in the cage so I think I am just going to keep him in the cage at night just so I can feel better about knowing he's safe and I won't have to deal with the attitude lol

All of mine sleep free around the house every night. Most days they are still in their trees when I wake up, and if they're not, it's not really a big problem if you have a big (adult) cham. Always look up! lol Odds are that he's up on some table or shelf hanging out. I never have a hard time finding my guys if they wander off their free ranges.

But your peace of mind is important, so do whatever you feel safer doing.

Mine sleeps on his pothos in the same spot within a few branches. Usually, he wakes up and roams a little bit. Then goes to bask once the lights come on. After that, sometimes before, he uses the bathroom. then lastly he seems to climb down and take a circle around my room exploring. But then goes back to his setup and chills. Just make sure when you wake up you look where you're stepping and close the door and you should be fine. Just cham proof the entire room...
