Simbas enclosure revamp :) (PICS)

Hi all.

Decided to give Simbas enclosure a revamp and replace all the live decor with fake.

So out came everything!!



Gave everything a good scrub with viv cleaner and gave a good rinse. Including giving the mistking system a thorough dismantle and clean including the filter and nozzle

Replaced the 2 live plants with 1 single 4ft high fake ficus plant



Then in went the cleaned vines and feeder cup, and finally the glass which my hubby kindly polished up



Lights on n mister working



Then popped Simba back up there after giving him some more eye drops
He went straight for his basking spot

Didn't take him long to go exploring











I'm obviously more impressed than Simba lol!!!!

Still, he took a roach and a morio from me (as he had 2 giant butterworms and a fruit beetle grub on fri so not that hungry)

Simba is such a sweet Cham, he will love his new set up. I am not sure about the fake plant, hopefully he will take to it.

Simba is a lucky boy.

What was your rationale for going from live to fake plants? Were you having problems with them?

The only reason I can see here is that they're easier to clean

I'm wondering this too, what was the reason you switched?

Yes, basically easier to clean whole setup, and locusts can't eat fake plants!!!
They made a right mess of them!!!

I know they're great for humidity but I get really stuck for time now so I need to go with what's practical!

Humidity hasn't actually suffered as he gets quite a few mistings daily. It peaks at 86% during mistings. At 65% now (Lights off for the day but humidity may be lower before first misting of the day - which I don't know coz I'll be in bed! LOL)

Simba seems pleased with everything now. He's even a bit brighter! Rather than a dull greeny grey, he's sporting stripes and I've seen him having a right good explore of all areas
