How long does silkworm chow stay good for? And if what I have is bad, I bought some new chow for mulberry farm and wantrd to know if someone had a ratio smaller then the package. It package give you direction for 1/2 of chow, is that a lot,Any idea or comments will help alot.sorry new to making chow!

It's the right time of year, to harvest Mulberry leaves. If your in orange county, most elementary schools that have been around for a while, have at lease one tree on their grounds.

How many worms will you be feeding??? It seems like a lot of chow, but the worms eat ALOT!! Cooked and refrigerated chow should be good for a month. Be sure to use CLEAN utensils to grate/cut chow so you don't contaminate the whole lot!!

Howdy Neo,

I'm almost embarrassed to say that I've kept batches of Mulberry Farms cooked-at-home silkworm chow for 4-5 months and used it without any problems. If you are careful not to contaminate it after cooking and refrigerate it then it just seems to go on and on.... I seal it up in sanitized plastic containers.

If you want to make a batch smaller than the bag, seal it up and the dry chow will last a while if you keep it in the fridge.

Just keep the ratio right. the back is half a pound and needs 3 cups of water added to it. so if you make half the bag (1/4lb) use 1.5 cups.

Not to confuse you, but these days when I make chow I just sorta play around with it. I boil water, then add the dry chow to the water while blending it... if it gets too thick I add water... but ya gotta make it a few times to get an idea for the consistency you want. lol so just follow the directions

My chow has never lasted long enough to make it past a month!!! Good to know that it will last longer.

Too funny!! This is how I've been making mine too! :D I dump the powder in and add h2o until it reaches the right consistency.

Cool thanks guys, I made a 1/4 pound and came out pretty good for my first time. Thank again, Noe
